Description

Feel like kicking off the Holidays with some LB Friends? Then this is for YOU!

Dust off your memory. Check out Christmas carol titles on-line. You'll be glad you did!

Feel free to bring a snack to share, but it isn't necessary. Drink will be provided.

Optional: Bring a small letterboxing gift to exchange. VERY inexpensive, please. Ideas: a homemade journal, a pouch, a box to hide a letterbox in, a pretty pen for signing journals, a carve you'd like to pass on to someone else to plant, etc. I'm sure you have other ideas, too! Only those who bring something will exchange. Don't feel you have to do this portion!!

Feel free to bring your event boxes, PTs, HIPS boxes, and any LTC you'd like to swap. Pretty much anything you'd like to share with everyone.

There will be NOT TO BE MISSED boxes, 65 boxes, 8 bonus boxes, and the event stamp, for you to hunt. These are carves done by carvers across the United States and will be available for a limited time only!
You'll be getting these stamps and then trying to figure out the actual name of each. They are "puzzles" for Christmas carols, some well known, others not so much.

You definitely will need a car to hunt for the boxes. Car pooling from the event start location is encouraged!
You will need a Garmin or Smart Phone to assist you.
Light snacks will be available. Eat lunch on your own. You can find most fast food restaurants along Parker Road.
You will be outside for most of the boxes, even if there is snow on the ground. Please dress accordingly. They will be in groups of 10, possibly more, depending on how many safe sites I can find.
Boxes will be in 4 locations.
Two weeks before the event I will message participants who have signed up. You will receive some questions that you MUST have answered in order to "unlock" many of the boxes. This gives you plenty of time to figure out the answers and message me back with your answers. I'll let you know if you have them correct.

Ink Colors Needed: Black ink pad - the predominant color; blue (5 stamps), green (6 stamps), red (1), brown (1), gray (1); you could use red, brown and gray markers for the single stamps to consolidate supplies.
Marker Colors Needed: red, yellow, green, brown, black and gray markers are used in 2 stamps.
NO sig stamp is needed for the mystery carol stamps. No log books in any of them. You sig stamp will be needed for exchanges, WOM boxes, and anything else that might show up with others that has a log book attached.

Check back for further event detail updates.

The past three years several of us have gone out to a Mexican restaurant for dinner afterwards. This is optional but wanted you to know of this possibility. Dutch treat.
Specific address of this event will be sent to all participants about 4-5 days before the event. It won't be posted here on the event details.
The addresses of the other locations will be given to you when you pick up your packets.

This is being posted early so you can reserve the date now. The carves that have arrived so far are really good. Don't miss out!

If you paraticipated in my WDSTF event in July, please wear the name badge given to you at that time. I'll have name badges for the rest of you.

Children are welcome but should be well behaved and closely supervised.

I've added some more details to the event information. Please check it out.

Nov 7, 2015: 4th Annual Kick Off the Holiday - Mystery Carols
I finally have the count of puzzle boxes. It's been entered on the main event. I'll be adding ink colors in the next few days. Black is the basic color. I believe the only other colors needed are blue, red, and green, and then two that use markers. I have to spread everything out to see what's needed.

There will be prizes given to the 6 who get the most answers correct. If there is a tie, we will roll off. Get those thinking caps on!

There will be 12 locked boxes. You must have the answers to the questions I'll be sending out around Nov. 15th to unlock them. Those questions will not be posted on this event page. You'll receive an AQ message. I'll be using the answers to the questions in various ways to give you the lock combinations.

Nov 13, 2015: 4th Annual Kick Off the Holiday - Mystery Carols
Ink and marker colors have now been added to the event page. Please check for the update.

The questions for unlocking the boxes at this event have now been sent. The document copies and pastes much better in regular email. If you want to send me your alternate email address, I'll be glad to send you the document there.

I will send the questions to anybody new who signs up. You must have them answered or you can't get to 36 of the stamps. The questions will not be posted here.

Dec 1, 2015: Kick Off thE Holiday Event
Hi Everyone:

Checking in again. The event is in 4 days. I've only had a few folks submit answers to The Twelve Days of Christmas. You really need those answers. I'll give you help, promise, for incorrect answers.

I've been asked for ink colors and number of stamps. This is what is in the event description.

65 stamps, 8 bonus boxes, event stamp

Let's cheer for the sun! It'd be great if some of this snow melts away.

See everyone on Saturday, anytime between 9 and whenever you get here. If you've lost my address, please message me.

Patty
