Description

The four corners letterboxers are pleased to announce the creation of Letterboxing the Four Corners. The theme is Media of the Region - books, movies, TV, etc. that take place in, are filmed in, or written by authors from the four corners states. Should you choose to plant a letterbox for the event you do not have to follow the theme, but we certainly encourage you to get creative with it if you want to!
As of right now, we are planning for everyone to bring their own brown bag lunch.

Park Information
• 6+ miles of easy parallel and intersecting trails alongside the Animas River
• Indoor plumbing at the Riverside Nature Center
• Bring corn if you enjoy feeding ducks

Event Gathering Spot Information
• There will be covered picnic tables and a shaded grassy area with lawn chairs.
• Area near Riverside Nature Center with indoor plumbing
• Area not too far from parking lot

Event Letterboxes/Clues Information
• Copies of clues will be available
• If you plan on carving for the event, we can plant box(es) & make copies of clues. Helpful if you send boxes by the middle of May.
• If you plan on carving and planting for the event, please bring copies of clues.
• Suggest you bring gloves and a spade

Local Letterboxes Information
• While in town you may want to search for other letterboxes before, during, or after the event. Click on the link for several cluster-areas you can check out.

Directions to the nature center:
1a. Coming from Albuquerque on Highway 550: From Bloomfield, turn left onto US 64. From 64, at the outskirts of Farmington, turn right onto Browning Parkway. Pass two street lights while on Browning. At the third light, turn left as if heading into the municipal operations center.
1b. Then, make the first available right turn and head north into Animas Park and park in the dirt parking area. Walk generally east on the road that passes on the left of the large red barn. Pass through the yellow gate and continue walking on the path and the Nature Center will be on your right.
2. Coming from downtown Farmington: Find the intersection of East Main Street and Browning Parkway. Turn onto Browning (East) and continue until the first street light. Turn right as if heading into the Municipal Operations Center. Follow the directions in 1b.
3. Coming from east Farmington, Aztec, or Durango: If coming from Durango or further north, you will stay on 550 as it becomes Main Street through Farmington. Drive south until you pass the Farmington Museum and Gateway Park on your left, and then make a left at the next light onto Browning Parkway. Turn right into the Muni Operations Center and follow the directions in 1b.

Places to eat near the event:
Buffalo Wild Wings is the closest restaurant, but is new and may be busy.
Beijing Restaurant, Papa John's, Long John Silver's, and Furr's are all in the same shopping complex near the event.
Red Lobster is close as well.
The Spare Rib BBQ Company
Three Rivers Brewery
Boon's Family Thai
Dona Maria's
Bernadones Family Pizzaria
Pizza 9
There are many options up and down Main Street, but these are close and/or good local food.

Suggestions for the theme:
Tony Hillerman
IMDB movies filmed in Farmington/Shiprock
George R.R. Martin
Novels set in New Mexico

More information will be added as we do further planning!
