Description

Shelter #5 has been reserved. This is the same as the past few years.
The theme for Paris Mtn. 2015 is “Rescue”. This includes rescue for animals and Search and Rescue of humans. There will be two raffles; one for event expenses and another to be divided among a few charitable rescue causes.
We are looking for stamps to be planted. Contact Figureeight.

If you have any letterbox tools or material not being used bring it for a swap table. "Leave one take one".

Here is a link to the "trail map". It is advisable to print the map in color at home. One is available at the park office ($2 ?). If you have not been to Paris Mtn. it is a good idea to do your homework before arriving. Many of the clues list the trail for the box location.

Some things to do in the Greenville area include the zoo at Cleveland Park. Hagood Mill host old time days each third Saturday.

We will meet for lunch at the shelter at 12:00. Plates, napkins cups and ice will be provided. We will have some Letterboxing skills competitions. This will be skills like; how fast and accurate can you stamp in, how well can you carve a stamp without an injury and can you decipher a clue and find the box.
Figureeight will be at site #27. This is a big site with a good fire ring and room on the tent pad for a second small tent. There will be a fire here Friday and Saturday night.

Sep 14, 2015: Event news
Grey Crazy tells me the stamps age coming in and they age great.
There are two camp sites remaining for two nights (#9 and #36). Site #22 is available for Friday only. This may change by the time you read this. Site #18 is a very poor place to stay. If you reserved it for Saturday you may want to change sites. The paved drive is down hill and there is no tent pad.

Oct 11, 2015: Event update
Here are a few details about the event. The park opens at 8:00 in the morning. There is a user fee of five dollars. We will be at shelter five at 8:00. Lunch will start at 12:00. We have plans for three letterbox skills competitions at 12:30 and drawing for the raffle. Each skills race will have four participants. Just sign up for one event as you arrive. Carving a stamp will be for adults. The identical images are already transferred on pink stuff. Speed stamping for youth under eighteen. The third race is open to all; finding a box using a cryptic clue, stamping the image, signature in the log, documenting the name of the box and returning the box to the hide.
Items in the raffle include; a hand woven scarf from Mary Catherin’s, a box of home made doggie treats from Barn Yard Goodies, a Monty Python book provided by J Walkers, a journal made by Figureeight and an old ladies chair re-caned by New Bottoms caning. That is an antique chair for ladies.
We no longer have access to an ice machine. If a couple people will sign up to bring ice it will be appreciated.
Joy is planning some night boxing in the campground when it gets dark. All cars need to be off the road but on pavement or gravel. The rangers are kind to allow this after hours, but get upset if cars are not parked properly.

Night boxing will be at the playground area Saturday night. This is at the big parking lot above the swim area and main office.
