After finding Stewart Island Kiwi the day before, we had high hopes of finding this one too. And we did! The tree was recently cut down, but the stump is still there and the box was still nestled behind it. Sadly a little moisture found its way in and the glue holding the cover of the logbook on failed. The cover came off when I opened it. A bit of glue should fix it though. This and the Kiwi one were such great boxes. Such a pleasure to find after they sat unfound for so many years. Especially after getting to see the birds themselves the day before!
