The cross is now just a stake. Weather has turned the letterbox container completely brittle. When I touched it to pick it up just the very light pressure from my thumb punched a hole in the lid. The sides of the container have multiple holes as well. Bags have kept the contents dry but a new container is desperately needed.

We had never seen a lead plate name marker before. It was interesting to do a rubbing on it and find out the persons name and age
