After 2172.6 miles and over five months of hiking, I reached the end of the Appalachian Trail on this important day in history. I was going to hide this box on Katahdin to celebrate finishing the trail, but it was extremely windy and cold when I was up there, and didn't want to stop long enough to find a place to hide it. So I didn't. On the drive back to Bangor, though, I found a nice rest area to hide the letterbox, and that's where you'll find it.
Be happy, because now you don't have to hike ten miles up 4000 vertical feet on some of the toughest terrain on the entire AT to get the box. It's been reduced to about 20 or 25 steps on flat ground, much improved by most people's standards. =)
Clue
The rest area is located between Millinocket and Medway on Highway 157. Be sure not to blink because you might miss it if you do. Park, get out, and stretch your legs. Feels good, no? =) Now head into the woods on a small trail, to the right of the picnic tables but to the left of the privy, about 20 to 25 steps. You'll be at the foot of a large tree, the largest one in the immediate area, and the microbox is hidden under a rock at the base of that tree.
