This hike is simply incredible--especially in early August with the wildflower displays peaking--with fantastic views of Mount Hood and scenic ponds and meadows near the end of the trail. Definitely worth the effort getting up here.
Thanks also to Barry, who after more than a year after I hid the box kindly reunited the stamp in it that I forgot to take up when I first hid the box. Thanks, Barry!
Directions
Turn north off Highway 26 at the Zigzag store onto East Lolo Pass Road. After 4.2 miles veer right onto paved Road 1825. In 0.7 mile go straight onto Road 1828 and follow signs for "Top Spur Trail No. 785" for another 7.1 miles to a pullout on a good gravel road.
Clue
This is a picture clue. In this picture, you'll see a large bolder. Your mission: Find it. You'll be able to see it from somewhere along the trail....
On the left side, where the rock overhangs a smaller rock, is where the letterbox is hidden. Look around in the rocks and holes under that portion of the rock. It's pretty well hidden, but it's there.
Hike Length: 7.0 miles
