I met a gal who is eager to learn about letterboxing and would like to meet a lady in the area who can help her get started.

Now I'm wondering how someone got this in the first place. The cairn must get full over time but who has the rights to take the books? Rangers?

I was thinking the same thing. Someone took it and then put it up for auction. Seems kinda sleazy to me.

There’s nothing amuck- just someone’s collection of images from Dartmoor letterboxes. Some people here do the same thing, stamping on index cards and putting them into albums. They went to a couple events and got patches as well.
It would be interesting to know how they got to the sale, but it’s not exactly what burglars would grab in a break-in. More likely downsizing, a storage unit auction, or the person passed away and their heirs were too muggly to care about stamps.

Exactly, it would be like selling your own logbooks. For example, what happened to the personal logbooks of Some of our AQ folks who have died? Someone like Der Mad Stamper would have an amazing collection of stamps from all over the USA and events!

Talenti Gelato containers?

This is probably a stretch for Tools of the Trade, but I figured I'd ask! Does anyway ingest this and have extra containers that they'd be willing to send me? I'm seeking thirteen for an event - I'd pay for shipping if you've got a batch -- thanks.

ECP and I cruised through Wendy’s for lunch this weekend. She wasn’t very hungry so she got a cheeseburger kids meal. Turns out, the toy that comes with the meals (at least for now) is a Play-doh set. The containers that it comes in are perfect for small stamps. I did an unofficial waterproof test and they held. The only downside is that they are pretty small.

I hope it’s ok to post a link. If it’s not, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Ah....I misunderstood. I thought it was two logbooks from THE Dartmoor box, the original letterbox that started it all.

If you carve them or get them, I would help plant some in Southern and Eastern Georgia. We usually hit up those areas quite a bit.

We have Fried Green Tomatoes and Bee Charmer boxes in Juliette, Ga to commemorate the Whistle Stop Cafe and the movie set. Although unfortunately the Bee Charmer one seems to bee missing.

I have 13+ used ones left over from our last year's event. They are dirty, paint is chipping, and they still have the old labels. Let me know and I'll send them your way. There are a couple of new/unused ones as well.

It is indeed a challenge to get the containers in the first place. My DH and I work very diligently emptying the contents--a tough job, but somebody had to do it.

Letterboxing bingo! (January to early May)

Next month I'll teach letterboxing/geocaching to 70-100 Girl Scouts (ages 5-15?).

Ponder new features for Clue Tracker :-)

That's right! I've used a few of these for small stamps out in the wild, and used a strong magnet in the bottom. They seem to be holding up just fine, as I'm getting find reports!

Let's see....here's my list of how I "dabble" in the hobby:
Attending events, finding traditionals, planting traditionals, carving
for events, carving for LTC's, making LTC's, attending crafting retreats related to carving and making LTC's, participating in Zoom chats for both carving and for LTC's, and now I'm daydreaming about hosting an event!

Ohhh, what are my other LB activities do I participate in.
I am working on my carving- so have a pile if stamps to plant from over the winter. Carving is easy one day and not so much the next day! I throw out alot of pink stuff..... I attend the Monday carving Zooms- have gotten some really great tips on carving. Carving and making LTC's- great trackers available. I also did a tracker for postcards and have signed up for another.
I am attending events here and there, waiting for my husband to retire so we can expand our travel areas! Mostly around areas in the Great lakes, then Va and Co where our kids and grandkids live.
Eventually, I would love to hostess an event, but need to meet more people in my area- do not think I could pull it off alone!

Also on Facebook and there is an AQ group and a group for LTC's as well. I try to keep up on the posts there as well.

Do you think June 22 should be designated as Letterboxing Day? I was randomly browsing events and saw that there were 7 events scheduled for that day across the country, with 360 participants signed up so far.
