It'd be nice to have the information on how to make the degrees symbol for both temperature and for geographical coordinates on the Wiki Help page. For my PC I pushed down the Alt+248.

Alt+248

°
That works well. Just be sure to hold the Alt key until you're finished entering the numbers. When typing numbers, you must use the number key pad; not the regular keyboard numbers.

That's only for math.

I can never remember all those numbers. I just type what symbol I want: ° => °

Works on PCs, Macs, smartphones, etc. too. =)

FWIW, here is a list of Alt symbol codes. Alt + 167 is noted as a possibly improperly displayed symbol in the footnotes.

I'm not reading you.

I don't have the symbol on my keyboard to type? I know you know this but I can't figure out what you must mean.
Wait, when I sent my reply your message just changed the &deg to the degree symbol--so it's the & symbol that does it. When I tried &degree, however, it wouldn't work. I'm off to try &tilde and &umlaut.

Anyone can edit the help pages

I went to the wiki help page and can find nowhere that allows me to edit it?

so it's the & symbol that does it.

That and the semicolon at the end. ° = ° Not "degree", just "deg". There's all sorts of useful symbols. You have to remember how they're abbreviated, but it's still a lot easier than remembering numbers! But they all start with a & and end with a ;.

Here are some others you can look through: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_symbols.asp.
