Coloring Books for Adults

Not exactly letterboxing in the news, but tonight's news reported on the recent craze for coloring books for adults. Apparently one such book has hit the NYT best-seller list.

It just seems to me there should be a way for letterboxing to capitalize on this fad. I've planted a lot of stamp-and-color stamps, and anyone who enjoys coloring should enjoy finding them. I wanted to leave a comment on one of the many, many online articles on these coloring books but I couldn't find a single comment listing that actually works.

My daughter gave me one for Mother's Day. I've only colored one page so far, but it is relaxing in a doodling sort of way. I do look at some of the designs as something carvable.

It's funny you should mention that. I have a letterboxing friend whose personal logbooks come to life because she colors in many of the stamps -- even stamps that you wouldn't think to color. Really her logbooks are beautiful and they make the stamps just pop.

Well I was in a bookstore and saw one of those coloring books. I just couldn't help but think of my friend who colors her logbook, so we bought her an adult coloring book as a present. The books are really beautiful and look like a lot of fun to color. :-)

Several years ago I found Segmation. Wonderful "paint-by-number." The more intricate, the better. Then I found out I needed bifocals.

It's a lot like some of my LTCS. There are some that are carved and colored with markers or colored pencils so beautifully.

Does this friend have a rodent-related name, roo? :^)

HaHa. Yes.

A rodent with the most beautiful logbooks. :-)

it is relaxing in a doodling sort of way.

And I find it extremely stress provoking. I was always lousy at coloring and other fine motor skills (one reason I carve so rarely)

Strangely, I spawned two artist-types (and one challenged like me!)

Different strokes!

They are beautiful, but I would find it stress provoking too. If I started one, I wouldn't be able to get my mind off it until it is done.

Thanks! Thanks!

As if I didn't already have enough distraction in my life, you have to get me to check out Segmation.

If I do not get anything done today, it is all your fault!

Have you tried Griddlers?
