Hi! I will be visiting my mom in San Diego at Xmas time. We are both new to boxing. I have been lucky enough to have many boxes within 20 miles of my house and have already met other boxers. She has been having a harder time finding boxes near her (many seem to be missing). I was considering hosting an informal meet and greet between Xmas and New Years, partly so that she can meet other boxers to go searching with. I was wondering if there would be any interest in attending. I know that is a hard time for people, but I am not usually in the area.

A meet and greet would be fantastic! I've only been boxing since January and live in north SD county. There aren't many active boxers in the area as far as I can tell, so I'd love to get together! Just as you said, a lot of the boxes in San Diego have gove missing, so perhaps people who've tried boxing get disheartened and quit. Anyway, do let me know when & where you'd like to get together.

What if we put together something the afternoon of Saturday, Dec 28th? I'm sure some of us LA people would love to make it down there. Puppy Luv from CO will be in Santa Monica and said they could come down and make a day of it, too. Hopefully we can get some older SD boxers to come out of the woodwork.

Alright, I will post it as an event, but without details, since I haven't figured them out yet :). The 28th sounds great. I will likely look for somewhere central, like near downtown SD or slightly north of there. (Luv2scrap lives in south county but I would rather have it somewhere that more people might be able to attend).

I am excited to meet everyone around here as my family has been here for only 6 months. I enjoy Balboa Park and I just planted 12 carves if you need a location with boxes to find. There are plenty of grassy areas we could use for a pot luck kind on meeting. I'm willing to help in any way needed.

I can't wait to come down in Dec and find your boxes! Balboa Park would be a good spot to meet, as there are some other boxes there and picnic tables.

Okay, I've updated the event listing a little. We have folks from TX and CO coming, and now the locals are starting to take notice.

I think I am going to vote for Balboa Park because my mom and son are coming down with me and are going to do some sightseeing while I"m with you all and I know there is a lot near Balboa Park for them to do without being too far to come and pick me up. But they both sound nice.

There are a bunch of new boxes at Balboa. It would be a good place to meet.

Hey all, I can't remember my geography of SD, but if anyone happens to hit my Cabernet or Moo-lot box, could you give me an update as to the log book and such? My brother lives in SD but does not box. He could replace a log book if I send one but not much else!! Hope you all have a great time!

Pepper Grove Park/Balboa Park sounds like the best location for everyone. More boxes in the area and location is better for people visiting the area.

Your box is in Escondido which is in the north inland part of San Diego. Ssee it was just found last week, no mention log book so maybe still OK.

Went by Pepper Grove Park today (on a boxing mission, of course-had to get that last one). Looks great. Good for boxers and noxers. I will get down there early on the 28th to "reserve" tables. That way we have a place to meet @ noon. Can we add potluck sign-ups on the event page?

Just noticed the thread today and immediately signed up for the event. I have been looking forward to meeting other letterboxers for several years. I signed up for two people, but I haven't talked to my wife about it yet and she doesn't really enjoy letterboxing, so I may end up coming alone. Pepper Grove sounds like a great spot.
