Hi Desert died April 3, 2012. She discovered letterboxing two years ago when her doctor told her to find something to do that she would enjoy while she underwent chemo for her cancer. We met her on the trail in the autumn looking for Fourth of July letterbox. We needed a map and when we saw her and Angelo we asked if she had one we could use. Immediately she took in our bag, our hound and gushed with her characteristic enthusiasm, "Are you letterboxers?" Usually her enthusiasm and glee surpassed her stealth. She went with us on a futile quest to find some Funhog boxes. It turned into a fiasco of huge snakes, arguments about clues, lost letterboxing bags and laughter about what could go wrong next. Her infectious joy led to our placing of letterboxes with her in mind--we tried to make them boxes she would like. Whenever you see her stamp in a logbook, whether it's here in New Mexico or in Italy or Houston, smile and think, there is the stamp of a woman who loved letterboxing.

Very sad - may your happy memories live on.

I believe GT or Wassa can set up their account to be "In Memory" as they have done with other letterboxers who have gone to the happy SPOR hunting grounds in the sky.

Astro D said she'd post the obit on the NM board as soon as it's published.

I am so sorry for our loss. She sounds like a joy. Hopefully, she's gone before to plant boxes in the next realm. . . maybe without the large snakes.
