If anyone caught the Discovery channel series "Everest: Beyond the Limit" when it was on, you might want to check out this website! http://www.ueverest.com/index.html It is about the Altitudes Everest Expedition. RIGHT NOW this team is on Everest and they are going to try and recreate Mallory and Irvine's fatal 1924 summit attempt of Everest. By recreate I mean climbing with period gear and all! No Modern equipment! They want to finally answer the mystery of Whether or not Mallory and Irvine made it to the top of the world. Click to read about Mallory and Irvine. The ueverest site is actual the official site for the expedition and has live info and updates about what is going on with there expedition! Right now Conrad Anker and his team are at Advanced Base Camp. When Russel Brice sends them off it will all be updated live on the web for the world to follow! They are also filming it for a feature film release in 2008! This is going to be VERY INTENSE and completely captivating!!! I know I am going to be checking this website VERY frequently until the adventure is over!

I think that's a little bit of a stretch on their part. At best, they can only prove it's possible to get to the top of Everest with no modern equipment. I love the idea for other reasons, homage to the olden days of lore, but whether they make it or not isn't going to prove one way or another if Mallory or Irvine made it to the top. They can re-create the clothes, ropes, and equipment, but they can't recreate the weather conditions, the lack of knowledge about what to expect, and so forth. And I'm betting someone in their group has an emergency beacon to call for help if it becomes necessary. Maybe even a radio to report their condition or--and this I would consider cheating so maybe they won't--get weather forecasts.

I know them summitting is not going to really solve the mystery but It was Conrad Anker who found Mallory's body in 1999 and he has made it a personal mission to find Irvine's. Another goal that would give definitive proof as to whether they made it or not would be if they found either of the cameras they had with them in 1924. Kodak has said they would most likely be able to develope images from a camera (as long as it is not smashed) as the film has been in a deep freeze for 80+ years. Keep in mind at the top of everest it is too cold for bodies to decompose, So if they happen to find Irvine they might be able to find more answers to the mystery! He would be perfectly preserved in a frozen state. Morbid but true.

And I'm betting someone in their group has an emergency beacon to call for help if it becomes necessary. Maybe even a radio to report their condition or--and this I would consider cheating so maybe they won't--get weather forecasts.
Yes I am sure they will definitly have all of that, and even more! The weather is a very good point. Can't recreate that!
