National Day of Planting...

Instead of a National Day of Planting, for next year, I would like to suggest a National Week of Planting.

Thoughts?

I like that idea... can you imagine how many would get planted in a whole week??

Then we need an International day of hunting... a whole week off of work with nothing to do but go boxing... *sigh* Such a nice dream isn't it? =o)

I like this idea simply because it would give me a whole week to plant something rather than one day. I'm feeling a little bummed because I'm not going to be able to plant tomorrow. Might get them out this weekend though.

I'm game!

Can we make it a week or so earlier? Perhaps first week in May? I'm having a tough time with this and concerts etc.... ;-)

I'm all for that. I think I could do 5 to 7 box if I really plan.

Week is more logical simply because the specific 'day' may not be convenient for people to plant boxes.

This is the last week of school here and finals are so time consuming in our house. I would love the week instead of the day. I think we are going to have to skip tomorrow :o(

Okay, everyone, help me remember that I work for a reason — to buy more LB supplies. Oh and to have a place to live, etc.

Otherwise right now, I'm wondering why I'm here and not just spending all my time letterboxing. . . sigh.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!! **Mama Fox clutches her chest and falls back in a dead faint**

(but late is better than never ;-))

And a week is good too. Or a day every season - Spring PAL Day, Summer PAL Day, Fall PAL Day, Winter PAL Day. You folks in the Southern Hemisphere will need to wing it ;-))

Sorry, so sorry, Mama Fox.

Unfortunately my son expects me to be at their field day tomorrow. He says he's tired of me missing the field days, and now that my youngest is in school too I have "no excuse to miss again". A direct quote... :-)

**Mama Fox leaps up off the floor and on to a soapbox**

And I quite agree with the boys! One of my personal aggravations is how hard our PE coach and volunteer coordinator have to scamble to get field day volunteers. There's TONS of parents following their kids around with a camera and video cam (last year one boy had both mom and dad following him - it was rather obscene ;-)), but none can be bothered to volunteer to "work" for two hours. I did field day for my son's group (grades K-2) and I'm on the list for field day for the other bunch (next Wednesday, grades 3-5).

**Mama Fox gets off the soapbox, but carefully, because it's high, and she doesn't have good knees anymore**

Ok, rant over - cover yourself with sunscreen, get out there and - well - FIELD!!!! I'll find the boxes whenever you get around to planting them ;-)) Or leave them in your car, and I'll run by and stamp in while you are field day-ing..... (kidding!)

A week would be great! We got one in tonight between homework and dinner and of course American Idol.... We won't be getting any in tomorrow ;-( we are in our last week of school plus the finals in baseball so between homework and baseball we won't have time.... but this weekend we have 3 more to plant!!! YIPEE Guess they won't make it for the National Day of Planting count but at least they will be planted!

A planting window a week long would be wonderful! It would be good to get multiple boxes planted, but it would also be nice to have a choice in case schedules or weather interfered. For example, I have a box ready to go, spot scouted and all, but it is extremely windy here (I'm inside and my computer monitor is shaking-no windows open either!) and there is a storm headed this way. I have my doubts about whether I will get it planted today. But I'm going to give it my best shot!!
Nitrocat-near The Windy City, but without the benefit of any windbreak :)

I would love a week too. Tuesday isn't good for me, so I planted one today and the other with be Saturday. But I understand that a change would affect Ryan's statistics...

DUH!!! It's today! And I planted one today and have another to plant tonight! Oh, I'm so excited, although embarrassed I must have checked my calendar a few days ago and thought I would be too busy today, but my schedule changed. Yeah!

Yes, that would be nice. But then we can't see how many we can truly plant in just one day.

Didn't this whole PAL day thing come about because *we* were trying to see how much traffic AQ could handle? In which case, shouldn't we have synchronized our watches and set a plant hour?

I was just thinking the same thing... we would never succeed in crashing aQ unless we all logged plants and/or finds all at the same time. But then again... do we really want to succeed? We would all go through massive AQ withdrawl and then who would be left to find our lovely little creations... and who would plant more in the future? =o)

Great point! As a newbie I was getting all caught up in the fun and starting to stress out that I needed to get mine planted today! which is impossible with our schedule today....
***taking a deep breath and letting it out feeling much more relaxed**** LOL

Going to enjoy the weekend of planting and finding a few too.

Evidentally, most of you missed the time back in... (what was it, winter of 2004?) when Hartford County Connecticut decided to do this with LBNA. We crashed the site for the day, then we still had Hartford County portion crashed for a short time after that!

Ah... that was the good old days..... ;-)

I remember that day. Of course, it didn't take too much to crash LbNA back then.

Our nights were still chilly, but it got warmer this week.
