Hello Florida Boxers! Looking forward to meeting many of you this weekend at the Stone Mountain gathering. Hope this information will help you navigate around the fires.

The following information is from the GA Navigator website. Also, GA DOT phone number is 404-635-8000. Don't hesitate to give DOT a call if you're stuck in traffic on I-75. They can tell you if a wreck will be cleared quickly or if you should pull off and get a room!

Wishing you safe travels, Isabeau (Buford boxer with a little sister in Orlando)

UPDATED 1 PM TUESDAY MAY 22: Smoke from the ongoing wildfires in South Georgia and North Florida is affecting visibility on interstates and state routes on the Georgia coast from South Carolina to Florida and 100 miles inland. There is heavy construction on I-75 from just south of Valdosta all the way up to Tifton, it seems, and at several other points along the way.

In addition, US 19/41 parallels I-75 from Naples, FL all the way past Atlanta. I've used it often enough to know that in a pinch, it can be a real lifesaver. It may seem slower, but the scenery is much nicer than the a** end of a semi...

And don't forget about the Summit Tour Group! Book your reservation now or be left in the parking lot! ;-)

Since I live right in the middle of that I-75 construction, I think I'll make a suggestion. If you are going north on 75, get off of exit 22, and turn right (east). You will soon see US 41 - turn left (north). (There's a letterbox near this intersection - Valdosta's First Letterbox.) Continue on US 41 until you reach Eldorado. Turn left, and you'll see I-75 again. (This will be exit 55.) I haven't gotten on I-75 in my area for about 2 years now. It's rough out there.

Exit 22 - Exit 55...

been there! done that! (But haven't stopped for the letterbox... WHY NOT?!!)

Once I totally gave up on the northbound Interstate until I reached Cordele (Exit 101). I got on 75 there and got right back off at exit 102. Went all the way up to Unadilla (Exit 121) before getting back on... and did so ONLY AFTER verifying that traffic was rolling smoothly along at a "normal" pace.

Heheheh... I'm almost looking forward to hearing the I-75 travel woe-was-me reports...
