Yes, that's right, I was letterboxing on this gorgeous weekend and came upon some people having sex about 20 feet away from where the letterbox was planted. I was so angry that they deprived me of my 'boxing adventure, the view, and a great place to stamp in the warm sun that I forgot to be embarrassed!

OMG!!!! That would make me angry too, especially since I letterbox with my children. They should have been the ones to be embarrassed.

I apologize for that... Doxxie Dolly and I were feeling young and free.... Spring was in the air and we couldn't fight the urge.

(We are banned from our favorite grocery store for the same reason!)

Too funny, but I like the attitude.

I don't begrudge folks the use of the trails for whatever their hobby/interests are, but they do need to be able to share them.

It would be difficult had their been children nearby (like boxing with you), but yet explainable none the less.

I'm lucky you can hear my girls coming a mile away; No one should be caught on the trail with their shorts down.
I can understand why they might have felt the urge to frolic in the woods but they should pick a hike that is very difficult and not traveled often and get well off the trail and keep some clothing on so if you get company you can be somewhat discrete.

Maybe they were letterboxers caught up in the moment of finding your letterbox. Did you ask for an exchange?

i was out in the woods with my kids looking for a box and ended

I have no problem with over zealous and passionate people who were inspired by nature to be . . . ummm . . . Natural, but in two of the city parks here I run into to so many “progressive entrepreneurs” frolicking for business purposes, that I want to post a sign that reads:

"We don't park in your bedroom, so please stop ----ing in our park."
"Thank You"

The police don’t seem to do much about this situation other than posting an equally ineffective sign that states “This area is under video surveillance” It might be more effective if they also put up cameras.

Luckily these are large parks and I can avoid placing letterboxes near the most “lucrative” spots.

I think this one is ending up in Boxers and Briefs.

When I told my husband, he was all for it. Yet I think we are a bit younger than you all out there(no offense) and I was like....ummmmmmm not by a letterbox! Maybe a bit more off into the forrest, but not on the trail!

Sex on a trail, geez, a few years ago, I stepped over a couple in Nashville at Warner to not find the box there. After all those steps too.

Princess Lea and I stumbled across a couple having sex in the spot where a letterbox was supposed to be...in a very busy urban area park with children playing only yards away!! We actually waited around until the couple left and went over to find the box (box was missing).

I have also gone to a local Seattle area urban park for letterboxing. The parking lot is strewn with condoms and there are often men sitting in their vehicles hanging around the area., always creeps me out. As a female alone, I decided not to go letterboxing there that day. In fact, I have not been back to that park.

Take friends if you ever do go back. Also I've noticed that a prominently displayed camera makes the car-waiters here drive away, but don't point it at them just in case they are violent.

To get the full effect of this experience, can I just add that the couple in question came speeding into a parking lot in their van and screeched to a halt in front of this "monument" where the letterbox was supposed to be hidden (not a great choice of spots, even without all this intrigue). It is a stone tower with an open side. She jumped out and got down on all fours, he was behind her. At first we thought they were other letterboxers and were trying to identify them. Maybe she's looking for the box down by the floor? Do they have clues in their hands? Who do we know that has long blond hair? That's when we noticed the, um, rocking motion the fellow was making. Seems to me like the van would have been a better locale for this activity! Made me wonder if it was part of one of those radio show dares - to have sex in public places.

I find used condoms a lot when letterboxing, often multiples in one area. Makes me wonder if it's someone's place of business! Have definitely come across people in flagrante in the cars of parking lots of some of the lesser visited parks around here. Although I have also seen this in front of the hospital where I was working, so maybe it's just Oakland.
