So, to add to the list of weird things found while letterboxing:

13 cards from a deck, spread out along the trail:

clubs: 3,7,9
hearts: 4
spades: 5,9,10
diamonds: 5,6,8,9,10,King

Is this a weird set or is it just me? only one face card, two pairs, a three of a kind, a straight, a flush...

also, 13 is exactly one fourth of the deck...

Over about a 20 foot debri field, I found someones wallet, ID, debit card, various recipts and member cards. When I went to the police station to turn it in, it had closed and moved to another location. So, I drove there and was told they weren't open on Sunday- I'd have to come back later...

They dont make it very easy to be a good citizen do they?

We found a wallet at Walmart and turned it in at the service desk. The girls just looked at each other wondering what to do with it. I asked them to try to page the owner. They did reluctantly. Told me that what usually happens is they get home and realize its gone and retrace their steps. They kind of tossed it on the counter. Then someone came and took it to the back room. I almost asked for it back to mail to the owner. When we got to our car a girl was coming to the car next to us where we found it. I asked if her name was Amy and she said yes. Told her, her wallet was at the service desk. I like to assume she got the whole thing back in one piece.

On the same note, sort of, I heard about this guy that was collecting cards found on the streets of NYC, he wanted a whole deck. The cards were usually dropped by 3 card monty people. This may have been part of a movie, I dunno. Cool though.

Good thing you weren't trying to report an assault, or something worse. What if you were a criminal trying to turn yourself in? Would they ask you kindly to come back on Monday. Hmmm.

That girl was lucky you found it. My Mom, the precious old lady that she is, was at TJ Maxx, we were down the street at JCP and my girl's were at Belk's (I don't know why we didn't just go to each place together), so, Mom comes to pick us up and yells out the car, "Hurry up, I left my purse in the cart at the store." I'm like, "What?" This purse is over 12 inches long, 6 inches high, a few inches across the top. It's the brightest red they make. How are you going to just leave that in the cart in the parking lot? She says, "Don't tell the girls, they'll want to put me in a nursing home." But, someone like you found it and turned it in, intact. Not a penny or credit card missing.

I don't have any wierd things found on the trail. Just nasty trash that I wasn't able to pick up because I didn't have gloves. I just didn't feel like my Walmart bag would protect me from the nastiness. Just thinking about it made me throw up a little.
