Back in 2003 the Eddings Family planted Father's Day at the Octopus Tree and the Visitor box. When I found and adopted the Father's Day box in 2005, I contacted the Eddings Family since the clue to Father's Day no longer existed on the internet. He allowed me to adopt it and told me about the Visitor box that had been planted at about the same time. He last found it in 2004. He sent me the clue, but the "sandpile" in the clue no longer existed so he told me about where it used to be.

I never found it but I saved the clue. Recently I gave the clue to Freebird and he found it!! It still existed with the stamp and logbook with stamps from 2003 but nothing since.

We met at the park and he showed me where it was and I couldn't believe it! I suspected that Freebird had the "sixth sense" for boxes when I gave him the clue but now it is confirmed.

When I saw the spot I was glad that I gave the clue to Freebird since I couldn't believe he found it! The sandpile in the clue doesn't exist anywhere. The "small" opening in the clue has been cleared into a LARGE opening to a path. The "tripod" tree is buried in a very thick section of woods off this path (not visible from the path) and is no longer even a tripod! One trunk has completely fallen. I never would have guessed that was it!

Totally awesome to find a box that old and uncared for still there! And I also know that I'm making Freebird a boxing buddy! :)

We added some stamps (possibly to be developed into bonus boxes) and added a new logbook to the old so it will be "resurrected" with new clues soon (The Eddings Family gave permission to do this if the box was ever found).

How cool is that??
Hey, Freebird found my Historic Moss Chapel box which has stumped a few.
I will say that Freebird also HIDES boxes REALLY well (and he knows what I mean!-I attempted one of his boxes in Waxhaw TWICE and still didn't find it-gheeeez)
I love knowing that boxes can happily lay dormant for years just waiting to be "freed"......
Thanks for sharing mama wolf.

Probably seems obvious to someone who can just "sense" a box in a park. Unfortunately, not all of us have that ability...

Wolf *still hunting for the original Charlotte Observer box -- for the last 2 years*
