I've uploaded all the latest changes. I'll be up a bit longer to keep an eye on things before going to sleep tonight, but since this is a pretty major update, there will likely be bugs. If I go to sleep before they rear their ugly little heads, I'll fix them when I wake up in the morning.

Not a whole lot has changed in terms of functionality. Mostly a few cosmetic-looking changes. A couple of things I will point you to, though:

  1. Account Preferences: You can set your default posting/mailing options to use html or wiki-style formatting. (You can override the default with the radio buttons below the message you type in at any time, though.)
  2. Wiki is cool--you can make these neat lists with it, among other options not available with the html-style formatting. Give it a try, but if you're new to it, you might want to use the "preview" button before committing the message permanently. ;o)
  3. Your default view setting for the message boards is the last view you used--not unlike before in that respect. What is different this time, however, is that the setting is saved in the database so if you move from computer to computer, your last setting will still be used. For people who aren't logged in, it'll still save the last setting using cookies and it will not travel from computer to computer.

Hmm.... That's all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, comments, or suggests, let me know. =)

(I'm telling you, wiki-style posting has a lot more options!)

If some of you have trouble with sending AQ mail or reading messages, try logging out and back in. I should have deleted all those old sessions variables when I took AQ down but forgot to, and those of you who don't log out but used AQ less than eight hours ago have some old data in the session variables that won't work anymore. If you last used AQ more than eight hours ago, you're safe since AQ will automatically delete sessions more than eight hours old. It's those of you who stayed were on AQ late last night but up and back on early this morning that it effects.

Sorry about that!

Wow! This is cool! I love being able to read the first two lines of a post without having to click on it! Awesome! This will save me SO much time...and I just might have time to carve something now! *GRIN*

Haven't used Wiki that much....but looking forward to learning!

Thanks, Ryan! You...as usual...are awesome!

  • This is so cool we can use the wiki formatting when we reply to questions. :)

Per Ryan's blog:

The one other major place where people can enter large quantities of text is the clue. I'd love to support wiki-style formatting for clues, but alas, that will have to wait for another day.

Thanks Eidolon. I'll await that day with bated breath. :)

Haven't tried the wiki formatting yet, but I'll get there.

What about including quotes from previous posts? Do we still use the way we do in html?

I don't think so. That is not "real" html code but rather something Ryan added himself. There may be a way to do it, boxing it like a table or something, but I am not wiki-savy so would have to play, meaning I will wait and see if he has an answer first. LOL

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that in the wiki tutorial since quotes aren't in much demand for wikiboxing. =)

If you use double curly braces, it'll create a quote box with the stuff inside them. For instance, to quote the message I already did using wiki-style formatting, you'd type:

{{What about including quotes from previous posts? Do we still use the way we do in html?}}

I'll be sure to update the wiki documentation to let everyone know, though. =)
