Now, I don't think anyone can match the Scottish for really revoltingly disgusting delicious fried food. And I say that as an Irishman who saves bacon fat to cook Potato Farl every year on St. Pats.

The Scottish have Fried Eggs. But not like OUR fried eggs. First, you take a hard boiled egg. Then you pack it until it is completely encased in about a half inch of GROUND SAUSAGE. Finally, you immerse it in a deep fryer for about ten minutes.

Finally, you get the product: Heart Blockage.

But seriously these things are delish. They make me want to take up veganism (again) but they are delish.

I've never had it, but it sounds similar to your creation

I have had it - it is wonderful! It is stuffed with a sweet cheese, though, not anything like cheddar. :)

Quote fried cheese and raspberry jam sandwiches. Ordinary white bread with a filling of cheddar cheese and jam, dipped in beaten egg and fried!

Sounds like the beginnings of a monte cristo sandwich ... yum!

Glad to be eating lunch with all the food talk,

Ah, yes! We never go camping without ours, and my whole family starts salivating when it's pulled out of the camping gear for dinner. There's nothing like food that's been cooked over a campfire though!

Anxious to get out there and camp now,

I have discovered growing up that the stuff we ate at camp was delicious while camping but disgusting when we tried it at home.

A few years back when I was camping with one of my scout troops, we were making bacon and eggs in a bag. You put a few strips of bacon on the bottom of a paper lunch bag and crack a couple eggs on top of that. You cook it by poking a stick through the top of the folded bag and holding it over the campfire. The bag has a tendancy to catch fire due to the bacon grease. That was some of the best tasting carbon I have ever had!

Wow, that bacon & eggs in a bag sound trippy -- in a good way!

Probably the best tasting carbon I've had is all those burnt marshmallows in s'mores!

I think the Filipinos have the grossest egg concoction. It is called Balot and is a fertilized egg fermented and buried for about nine months then eaten with the little chicken fetus fully formed. My husband tells me to try it that it is 'tasty.' I say if it tastes anything like it smells, I'd have to be stoned and starving to even get it near my lips. I'm a pretty good sport about trying different things, but i draw the line at rotting carcasses-encased in egg or no....

Aside from fried, pickled is the best. My dad always picked up a jar of it for our Thanksgiving 'condiment tray.' It's really yummy. So are pickled carrots with jalepeno and onion.

I had that a couple of months ago at The Whip during one of our apres-boxing meals! Next time you're out this way we'll go there, it's a nice little pub. Cyclonic has a letterbox there....

Being an honorary Filipino *smirk* I have tried these and do not find them bad at all. The experience is a lot like your first time eating oysters. You look at this thing and think "Why would I want to put this in my mouth?" But then you try it and hey! not that bad.

Pork Sisig for me was a lot harder to try. The problem was I watched some folks prepare it. It's ground pig brain and face fried with sauce. DON'T watch anyone prepare it, but do try it, with beer preferably.

What about using a Krispy Kreme Original glazed donut as a bum for a cheeseburger? They slice the KK donut in half, invert it so the glaze is facing the burger and Voila...a KK Original Glazed Donut bun! Now I am hungry...can't wait to get home to NC for a "Hot Donuts Now" run...

Or how about Dippin Dots Ice Cream...to me they taste like freezer burnt ice cream BB's...

Out here in the Rocky Mountains are made from cows "jewels" and are generally pounded flat (I am told). I have managed to avoid this "food".

There is a festival in NE Illinois dedicated to the turkey version of this "food". I can guarantee you, this is one festival that I will never attend!
