Using the Advanced Search for Unique Searches with VLB's
Board: Virtuals

People have their own styles when it comes to creating and solving these VLB's, don't they?
I have found that the Advanced Search can be used to suit your style, and it's very versatile.
For those of you who are trying to solve all of the VLB's, I'm guessing that you've already saved a simple search for virtuals that you haven't solved and haven't planted. If you like to know immediately when they are posted, then you've probably asked for notification. If you just check the list when you sit down, you might not have asked for notification so that you don't have to sift through all of the email that comes with notification.
However, for those of you who like to hunt and peck for those that most interest you, I have three favorite VLB searches that I wanted to share:
A. When I have a favorite creator, I save a search for that specific person's virtuals and say "yes" to notification.
B. I saved a search that I call "Virtual Letterboxes by Author" and said "no" to notification.
C. I saved a search that I call "Weekly Virtual Letterboxing List" and said "no" to notification.
This way, I know when possible favorites are posted, and I have all VLB's listed the way I like to view them best.
The weekly list is so nice. At any point I can click on the search and it automatically gives me a list of the last seven days worth of VLB's that I have not solved or planted. That's usually a reasonable amount of boxes that I can peruse.
Here's how I set it up:
Letterboxes => Advanced Search
Search Type: Virtual Letterboxes
Timespan: Listed last seven days
Sort by: Author
[check] Hide my planted boxes
[check] Hide my found boxes
[Save Search] (at top)
What do you want to call this search?: Weekly Virtual Letterboxing List
Box Notifications: No, do not send notifications
[Save Search] (at bottom)
So handy!
