What a day!

Yesterday Booty HaHa and I set out after an ambitous 35 boxes in the Greenville area. We came back with only 14, but man what a day! First of all the weather was awesome for all of the hiking that was required (I bet we walked over seven miles, not to mention the crazy climb we put on to get an unlisted box!). The only box we attempted and didn't find even entailed about a 3/4 mile trek, but we did see about a four foot long water snake! I was about three feet from the perfectly camoed guy when he decided to bolt for the water. My reaction made Booty's day right then. If any of you haven't been to Paris Mtn you just have to go! All of the boxes were great. Even the one storebought stamp has great clues and was a lot of fun. "Knot in Paris" was one of the prettiest hikes I've been on in a long time! We snagged the indoor boxes at TR and then headed for Jones Gap, one of my all time favorites anyhoo. There we were first finders of two incredible boxes in the woodland wildflowers series. Let me say that DT&Fambly are putting out some quality stamps. I can say that because the carved flowers were blooming all around me and the likeness was un real. IMO these are must haves for your log books. The only downside of the day is that I was also going to plant at Jones Gap and left the box on my desk here at home. I guess that means we'll have to go after those other Gville boxes one day soon. As we finally made our way back to Greenwood County about 10:30 PM last night, Booty HaHa look over and said, "Thank you daddy, this was my best day ever!" Wow! I thought she'd had a lot of pretty good days too, but this was the best! I just wanted to say thank you one more time to all of you who make days like this the BEST for us as we spend this increible time with our kids in these times that will quickly pass by, but will never be forgotten.

Thanks,
Bubba

Agreed! That Plant-a-box day event brought in the most wonderful carvings from all over the SE. I think that was Boxing Bee Bunch's event?

I'm so glad dtandfambly are there planting in cool spots now. It seems that after that event there weren't many people living in Greenville to maintain and continue to plant for a while. Now I get to get something knew whether I pass thru on the way to GA.

Bubba,
Sorry you forgot to take your box. We were thinking of coming there tomorrow, and were looking forward to getting one of yours. Have a great trip next week.

Great pictures! Are sure you didn't adopt her from your sister? She looks an awful lot like her: )
Thanks for your compliments on our stamps. They were fun to make and plant.
Your comments about your daughter were very sweet. She is so blessed to have spent that time with you.
Have fun in Honduras. Drink coffee and plant boxes!!!

How totally awesome! She looks as if she's having the Best Day Ever! I can't wait for mine to be old enough to do this with me. At 3, she's only good for finding 1 or 2 - and that's if they're near swings! =) What a great memory you now have!

HI Bubba

Thanks for sharing about your great day! We've been to Paris Mountain and had a great time. We didn't get all the stamps, so we get to go back and have another great time ;-))

And I agree with your comment about sharing this hobby with our kids! I have a few (coughwaytoomanycough) hobbies, but this is by far the *best* hobby for the family (well, Dad the Muggle Fox thinks it's good we get out and about, but he's not a boxer.....). And we get to meet great people, have made some great friends and have great fun. Minimal skills and financial investment required (er - just don't ask Webfoot the total of my Stampeaz expenditures!) and every one can enjoy it!!!

My son has some minor special needs, and he'll never play organized team sports, and that's ok (it's not like dad and I were ever Olympic contenders!), so it's great to get out and participate in something where he feels a sense of accomplishment. And a great lesson for learning that "sports aren't everything" (sorry sports fans - but we do love minor league baseball - Go Tourists!!).

And any hobby that gets you off the couch, requires thinking and creativity and takes place mostly outdoors - go for it!!
