Just as an FYI, I got a message from the authorities in the Great Smoky Mountains NP saying they've confiscated three boxes they found there listed on AQ and to delete the boxes since they were planted illegally.
On the plus side, the park ranger wrote:
So it actually sounds like letterboxing in the Smoky Mountains NP actually *IS* okay as long as you get a Special Use Permit. I don't know what you have to do or who to talk to to get one, but if you want to plant a box in a national park, it might be worth asking around for.

I wonder if these guys stamp in first?
Well..while I don't have any in Smoky Mtn. NP...I definitely edited on of my boxes....
If you're gonna' do this...I guess you have to be careful how you provide the clue....

Preferably, somewhere other than AQ. I don't much enjoy being contacted by land owners complaining about illegally planted letterboxes.
Seriously, there's plenty of land out there where it's not illegal to point. If people use that, they don't have to be "sneaky" about who gets clues and their boxes can live long, happy lives. It's a good thing. *nodding*

Why would we want them interrupting people while skinny dipping? I'm okay with people who want to skinny dip. =) Even stampin' out forest fires isn't always a good thing. Forest fires are a normal part of the forest's life cycle. As long as no property or people are in the way, I say let it burn! =)
Now if they started cracking down on those idiots that feed the wildlife, I'd be okay with that. *nodding*

If only there was more wildlife that would eat the idiots... survival of the fittest, I always say. Get rid of the bed genes!
