Quote Scout had one in the mall but she removed it and I think was going to plant it elsewhere.
Sorry, that's not much help. Good luck with the OM competition. I'm going to be tied up all day tomorrow or I'd drop by. Good luck also letting the kids loose in the mall. :-)

We were so beat by the time we got to the mall that boxing was wholly unnecessary! My school tied for 12th place in their division (not amazing, but great for a team that's only been at it a year!) and the other school from our district actually took 4th place in theirs. They're still down there for one night more, but our team took the bus home. It was a wild day all day, but worth it...can't wait until next year!

Thanks! The best part of this day was first thing in the morning. There's a huge lecture hall that the teams have to wait in all together before they do the spontaneous portion of their presentation. It's got all the teams from all over the state in it from all ages groups, plus their coaches and a few extra adults. They have giant banners for the kids to write on and sign, then every few minutes or so, a group gets called up to go do their thing in front of the judges and everyone cheers like mad as they go. It's basically organized creative chaos and it's a ball.

They also had karaoke set up, so you could sing and show off your team's talent. When our kids went up, they completely eschewed the mic and the the music and just busted out with their rendition of Ain't No Mountain High Enough (which they did for the talent show as well). The whole room was clapping and singing along with them after just a few verses.

So, while we didn't place as high as we might have wanted in the competition, we OWNED the spontaneous holding room! :-) Frankly, that alone gave them the confidence to do this again next year as middle schoolers...can't wait!

Sounds like a good time was had by all...I'm sure the kids enjoyed the experience.
Come back to the area later, even without kids in tow, and do the carousel circuit. Scout has planted some letterboxes to celebrate them, so you can ride 6 carousels for free and find the related boxes.
