All over again: )
My sweetie and I (the 'd' of dtandfambly) had the best anniversary weekend ever! He is my new hero!! We spent three days hiking and letterboxing. We wandered graveyards (romantic, eh?) and forest trails. We discovered new places, we solved clues (and with minimal arguments), we even carved stamps. I knew he had the fever when he started pointing out good spots for leterboxes EVERYWHERE we went! On the second night, he laid in bed telling me all his new ideas for letterboxing. Although, I did start to worry at one point that he might even be getting more into this than me!! I can see this is the beginning of a whole new phase in our marriage. He even mentioned letterboxing when we retire!
Thanks to all who have planted boxes in WNC. You have revived our marriage: D

You ask the good questions! I am letting him nap a lot this week, after all of that, So we'll see...
One story wa when we nabbed the first letterbox on the south side of the AT at NOC. We decided we'd go ahead and get theone that was 1 mile out. So we hiked a beautiful trail and got there only to realize that we (I) had left the clue back in the first box!!! We tried to think like a letterboxer. Where would we hide one? We searched to no avail. Finally we gave up and headed back. We did stop and get our clues out of the first box. We were somehow relieved to read that we were nowhere near the box in all of our blind hunting. It would've killed us to know we were right there and missed it!!
The bright side of all of this was that it really was a great hike that we would not mind doing again. Especially for Scout's cool stamps!
Unshackled was a bit creepy. We kept hearing strange noises and captured a strange whilte image on our pictures of the inside of the tunnel. And not far from the entrance was a patch of bloodroot, hmmm...

't',

I'm so happy for you. Giraffe and I have spent the last 3 anniversaries letterboxing the weekend away! We've planned our destinations based on letterbox proximity! We even went to western NC just this past November! When I saw you had planted a box in Sylva, Bryson City, and in Highlands (where we went the year before), I knew you had been traveling and checked out your logbook! Hopefully, you saw our stamp in a few of those letterboxes. I was particularly jealous that you found the Nantahala Village one. We actually stayed at Nantahala Village in November and ended up finding more of the drive-bys due to rain all day Saturday and never got the chance to find that one! We did get to find a couple of Scout's wonderful boxes on the way to Black Bald and I agree she has wonderful stamps.

Glad you had a great anniversary!

Starting to think about this coming fall now,
Amyrica
