Join us for fun, food, and...of course...LETTERBOXING!

Details:

Fun...Socializing, Door Prizes, Raffles, Letterboxing, Exchanges, Kid Activities (Crafts, Train Table, Tent)

Letterbox Friendly...Feel free to bring event/table stamp, but you must hide them somewhere in the room(s) and post the clues onthe bulletin board. Index cards and pens/markers will be provided.

Bring Your Own Clues...All indoor boxes at the Mill will have clues posted on the bulletin board. All letterboxes hidden in the wild will have their clues posted before the event. If you plant a box in the wild and don't post the clues until AFTER the 14th, please bring copies of your box clues for everyone! If for some reason, you are unable to print out your own clues, please contact me via AQ email and I will see what I can do for you!

Indoor Location...The main event will take place indoors. We will be in the basement of the mill, NOT in a gallery! For directions to the mill, please use one of the links above (mapquest, google, etc.). For the best VIEW of the mill, click the google link and choose the "Hybrid" option! Here is a more detailed "where-to-go/park/enter" map http://www.atlasquest.com/gallery/viewphoto.html?gPhotoId=10294

Potluck...Please bring a food or beverage item. If you don't bring a food/beverage item...you don't eat! LOL Six Stars is heading up the food committee. Please AQ Mail her and let her know if you will be bringing a main dish, side, dessert, or beverage, etc. There will be a special stamp that is ONLY for those who bring food!

Kid Friendly...This is a family event, you are welcome to bring your children, just please be responsible and keep an eye on them, the mill is a large building. Anything that is NOT kid friendly (i.e. adult image stamps...adult only boxes...etc.) needs to be CLEARLY marked as such.

Pets...The Mill does not allow pets indoors.

Smoking...There is no smoking indoors. It is also requested that people smoking outside refrain from smoking near entrances/exits. If you are seen smoking indoors or near an entrance/exit, we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action! ;)

Directions:

Please use one of the links above (mapquest, google, etc.) for driving directions to the Mill. For the best "VIEW" of the mill, click the google link and choose the "Hybrid" option! Here is a more detailed "where-to-go/park/enter" map http://www.atlasquest.com/gallery/viewphoto.html?gPhotoId=10294 Look for the florecent greenish-yellow signs that say "The Mills at Salmon Falls" with an arrow pointing you in the right direction! If you still need help with directions, please email me before Saturday. I will have my cell phone with me on the 17th. My cell phone number is 603-380-0955.

Please Bring:

...Boots...it's going to be wet and muddy in the wild.
...Food...unless you're planning on eating out! Please contact Six Stars to let her know what you will be bringing!
...Chair...if you want a guaranteed place to sit...bring a folding chair!
...Clues...for outdoor boxes. To my knowledge, there aren't any event only boxes being planted in the wild. All the event only boxes will be indoors. All outdoor boxes should have their clues posted by the 14th at the latest. If you are coming from quite a distance...please contact me via email and I will see what I can do to get you a copy of the outdoor clues.

I think that sums up most everything. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

That's my understanding too. Most of the event organizers I know do NOT make a clue booklet for day only clues, as they come in so sporadically and are too much work for the organizer to deal with. The box owner usually provides these clues.

Clue booklets tend to be only for NEW permanent plants, as most of the attendees are local..and may have already gotten the other boxes in the area, so don't need clue sheets. If the organizer has specifically been sent boxes that need to be hidden and clues written up, of course they will make a clue booklet. This doesn't seem to be the case here, so it's all good!

See you all soon ( with my day only boxes and clues in hand)

I found this poem today...quite by accident. But I think it says something about our event this weekend!!!

Weather
Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather,
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.

That about sums up my weather report! LOL

At this point, the weather for Friday night into Saturday morning is not going to be great. They are calling for a possible Nor'easter snow storm.

So if we get this major snowstorm, can we call it the "AQ Nor'eater of 2007"?????

Nor'easters won't keep us upstate New Yorkers at home! But I gotta admit I am ready for a nice cozy indoor event..lol. The huge snow banks are melting rapidly here, but they are forecasting snow for us as well this weekend. Which I am actually happy about since it will buy me a little time to replant/rehide any shifted boxes in Brewerton.

If anyone is heading to Brewerton this St. Paddy's weekend..will you recover/rehide the boxes really well? Thanks! I'll be up there next weekend to take care of anything. See you at Ginny's !(Oneida Artisans!

Speaking of New England....
Yesterday....sunny...and 70 degrees...
Today....rainy...and 40 degrees...
Tomorrow....SNOW?
Sat....NORESTER? COME ON! ARGH!

There is no back up plan people. The main space we will be in is an office...and it will have a new owner moving in on Sunday. Everything must be out before then. *sigh* So....it's either Saturday...or nuthin'. You all better come! LOL Those of us planning this shindig have put too much time, effort, and money into it. You WILL come...with snowshoes on if you have to....by sled dog if you have to...."I don't know how you'll get here....just get here...if you can..." Oh...sorry...I have a nasty habit of breaking into a song with appropriate lyrics!

Though...if you don't come...all the more goodies for those of us who will be there! Six Stars is keeping me in the dark about something awesome...that arrived special delivery...from Green Tortuga....(she's killin' me!!!!!)....you all won't want to miss it!

You will come!!!

just to let everyone know that probably already knew but need to be reminded again because they are pre-occupied with the pending storm (that isn't coming karolyn).

Knowing New England - The Legend of the Local Letterboxer

this book will be debuting at The Mills at Salmon Falls Gathering in Rollinsford, NH.
basicly this is one big scrapbook. when you recieve this book, which will more than likely be traveling to other new england gatherings, you will get the chance to scrapbook yourself into the book, allowing others to get to know a little bit about yourselves. pictures, tid-bits, your traveling stamp, whatever you want. once you add a page to the book, you can then stamp in your logbook, a special stamp for ONLY those who add to the book.

there is only a day left for those attending the gather in Rollinsford, NH. you can make something before coming to the gathering or make your page at the gather. if you have any questions, feel free to email me.

oh, and i thought i would warn you all. you might be thinking about the pending storm (that isn't coming karolyn), but you might want to BEWARE OF THE COOTIE CREW!

Well we had crazy weather predicted for SUN, yet only 10 people out of the 126 that signed up canceled. And those 10 were mostly from CT. *grin*

No worries. Snowboxers are insane. They'll show up no matter what!

so then i was the furthest traveled this year!
i think last year, there was talk about wanda and pete traveling the furthest.

and to think, last year i drove in from NH and then left afterwards for CT.
this year i was smart to stay the night. nothing gets you more tired than a day in 4 ft of snow!

of course, the weather was beautiful this year for DSS
