This idea isn't specific to postals, but to cool letterboxing stamps in general.

I like to frame my favorite stamps. I look for cheap, small frames (2x3, or 3x5). Some craft stores have them for as little as $1 a piece. I also like the clip frame style (no border, just glass, backing and clips), but the margins of the piece being framed have to be very straight and very clean or this looks horrid. (Clip frames are sold in bundle packs at places like IKEA for a great price.) Buy at least a dozen and find an empty wall somewhere, places where you wouldn't bother to normally hang art--my laundry room is my next "canvas"!

When they are clustered along a hall, it's actually a pretty cool little gallery. Or, they can be fun decor for the powder room. Something interesting, a conversation starter to be sure (guests form opinions based on the state of the powder room). You can also look for those collage frames for a little variety, with some plaque to commemorate the postal ring. I find larger pieces like that are harder to rearrange and cram into various open wall spaces in the house.

There's not rule against mixing "real" art with fun stuff. I have antiquarian (200 yr old) maps in the same room as original oil paintings and masks from Cirque du Soleil. (Sounds weird, but it actually works) I'd like to think our home reflects who we are. For those of us with the Boxpox, why shouldn't we decorate with our finds?!?

Or, just keep them in a book. But some stuff is just too cool to keep hidden away in a book!

O.k., that' I'm trolling the message boards is a sure sign I am under deadline and waaaaaay behind, in the grips of writer's block. I need to find my muse. Perhaps I'll go work on the traveling hitchhiker hostel....
