Calling All Planters!!!
Board: Traditional Letterboxes

Hey, Everyone!

This is an all-call to anyone who would like to carve a stamp / make a box for my Bachelorette Party Gathering on 12 May. The theme is love/marriage/dating/engagement/divorce/etc. So, anything at all that has to do with that theme would be greatly appreciated.

Now, if you live close, then you obviously have more control over what happens to your box after the gathering. But, if you live far away, then there are two ways you can do it:

1) You can send me the stamp/box and after the gathering, I will find it a permanent home here in upstate NY. And, if you like, I will maintain it for you, but give you ownership so you can have an out-of-state plant on your tally. :-)

or 2) You can send me the stamp/box and after the gathering, I will simply mail it back to you. So, you can do this for event stamps or postals and such... or traditionals that you just feel like launching out here to NY for a bit. :-)

So, thanks in advance for your thoughts and contributions!!!!

take care,

Infinity

hee heee....my stamp is already done. It's called "Department of Corrections" but I am not sure which theme it fits...."love/marriage/dating/engagement/divorce". *grin*

Infinity,

It just so happens that the Hoosier Heart (and Luck O' the Irish) Gathering has a love/heart theme. I would be happy to send you one of the stamps I carved for the our event. I like the idea of having an out-of-state plant! I've never been to NY, but now I'll have a reason...I'll have to check on my box sooner or later, right?! :-)

Infinity,

I responded to your post on Yahoo, but just in case......

The Wedded Bliss Letterbox will happily make an appearance at your Gathering. This letterbox will premier at the No Foolin' Letterboxing Gathering in San Jose on April 1st, but that's plenty of time to pack and ship your way!!

As to launching a traditional letterbox in another site, how do you reconcile the location? (Newbie question.) Although, this is such a large stamp (3x3inches), it's probably never going to make it in the wild as a traditional letterbox unless I put it atop a mountain in an ammo can. So, maybe the question is moot. Thoughts??

Thanks,

OK......we are SO excited! Our box is going to be called:

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

It will be in an old container (used tupperware, mint tin, etc).
It will have a new stamp.
You are borrowing it for your party.
And it will have blue ink enclosed.

We haven't decided on our stamp image yet but the wheels are turning! Thanks for the opportunity,
In Cahoots Gang (along with spy girl and Celtic Cutie)

Wow, I don't think any of my so-called friends were this excited when I got married! I kinda wish I'd known about letterboxing then. This is a much cooler community!

Now I think my 10 year wedding anniversary will have to be a letterboxing gathering! (It's 4.5 years away, so we have ample time to plan....)

Heh. When my husband and I went to get our marriage license, we had to go to the local Marriage Licenses, Firearms, and Mental Health department in the county courthouse.

There was even a sign on the wall outside the door, and I have always wished that I had taken a picture of it.

Quote What about REVENGE????!!!????!!!???

What a good relationship without a freshdash of revenge once in a while???

Now, for me and the husband-to-be, revenge is usually in order because of pranks and such. For instance...

I got a brand new paintball gun last fall and I had to waste the CO2 canister on it before I could store it for the winter. So, the fiancee, our roomate, and I pretty much took turn pranking each other with it. We'd take out all of the paintballs and then run into each other's rooms in the middle of the night firing it off and strobing the lights, waking up the other person like a freak. I accidentally shot my fiancee in the chest at moderately close range (this thing is powerful - so it definitely hurt!) and my roomate started laughing at him and taunting him ---- so I shot him in the leg at very close range. yeah, I'm still waiting to receive my "revenge" for that.....

What about a baby??? That'll come at some point, right? (laughing) Guess we best get you married first and then worry about the baby stamps.

I know, I know. We shouldn't push the issue, but us mom's are ready for grandchildren. (laughing) I have a one month old grandson who is the love of my life. We'll give her at least 3 months before ragging her for a baby then. ROFL

Wouldn't that be hilarious??? Actually, our little slips say,

"The happy couple has chosen not to register. Donations to assist with wedding and honeymoon costs will be graciously accepted."

Perhaps it should read, "Donations to support the bride's letterboxing habit are required!"
