Hi!
We were avid letterboxers on the Front Range, so I was used to a really active letterboxing community. (We celebrated 15 years in August! Time sure flies when you're sneaking around looking for hidden treasure!).
We moved to the Western Slope four years ago, and recently started up again here. Letterboxes are definitely slower to be found here in comparison, but we're adjusting.
I just taught a class on Letterboxing for a local continuing ed organization and had 35 people in attendance! A smaller group from that class contacted me, and I helped them go on their first adventure! My hope is that the community of letterboxers out here gets even stronger, and that will encourage more action.
Time will tell!

Wow, that's great! Do you mind if I ask how you got involved? Did you contact them or did they contact you? I would love to do something like that!

I'm part of a local historical society, and I was approached about doing a different class (presentation) on a historic topic. I then taught another class on a different historical topic the next term. Then, they approached me to teach again this term and asked if there were any other topics that would be interesting. I explained what Letterboxing was, and they were intrigued! It was a huge hit! (If I do say so myself.)
The organization is New Dimensions in Grand Junction, CO. They cater to lifelong learners who are 50+ years old. The "classes" are one session each, typically, and they cover a wide variety of topics.
I hope that helps!

Yes, thank you. I used to teach classes on Polaroid Transfers. I loved it. I wouldn't mind trying to get more people in this area interested in letterboxing.
I might see if there is any avenues here.
Thanks again.

Well maybe we need to do a little of both! Or meet in the middle if there’s someplace cool. What city are you based out of?

So, there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that Piper and I are safe.
The bad news is that there was a fire and until we can see what, if anything, can be salvaged, Stampeaz is not going to be shipping anything. From what I learned today, this is going to be a process. I do know that there's a big pile of Tan-Z Kut in my garage that escaped incineration. That's all I know until I'm allowed in to look at the damage.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

So happy that you and Piper are safe. Hoping the damage will not be as bad a feared, will be covered by insurance, and will be restored quickly and with as little stress as possible.

I don’t know how many folks here will appreciate that, but that was brilliant. Hats off.
He's about the only person I know who's got the cajones to do something like that. I agree, he is a brilliant guitarist.

Google "you're playing Blackbird wrong" and you will see it's a 'thing'. So much so this guitar teacher made a funny video about it.
At one of his concerts, Sir Paul asked if there were any guitarists in the audience. And then went on to tell them they were playing Blackbird wrong.

Echoing what many others have voiced. Your safety and that of Piper's are of paramount importance, and we rejoice in both.
The process will likely take longer than you would like, be more frustrating in perhaps surprising ways, and be quite an emotional roller coaster, with the sensations possibly converging in the span of the same day.
Hang in there, we are all rooting for you and yours.

Who would inherit Atlas Quest?

So if Green Tortuga died who would take over AQ? Like Choi retired from LbNA and there was nobody to take over that site and GT stepped up to keep that running. But what about Atlas Quest? If you died Ryan or became incapacitated for any variety of reasons what happens to the website? Heirs? Law please let it be Wassa if so. On the Auction Block? Goes public? Shuts down? Just curious.

It was me. I was to inherit the web site. Ryan has stated it in his will, though we did not want to make it public. The plan was for me to keep the web site running and continue things like April Fool's Day gags. I was also going to make changes to the web site periodically that people either really liked or very much disliked and then sit back and watch the banter. There were also going to be extensive plans to make it look like Ryan was still running the web site from the grave. Now that you had to ask and bring it all out into the light, everybody else knows. Thanks for outting us and exposing the secret plan, 3FLA. Now Ryan will have to come up with a new plan. What will it be? I suppose that now we will have to wait for him to tell us all.

Any good admin has a backup plan. Hopefully the backup is not some crazed person :)
There is so much valuable data here it would be a shame if it went away. I wonder if there is an easy way to download all of our plants including clues? For backup purposes.
