Quote Antibiotics will only help for bacterial infections. It is not healthy to take them routinely for viral infections as it can diminish their effectiveness when you really do need them.

If you wanted to be scared real bad, my preventive medicine doctor husband says that there could well be in ten years a total resurgance of bacterial infections that are totally resistant to ANY antibiotic. They are already seeing some of them...some nasty staph wounds that can not be healed and end up as a systemic, fatal infection. [Think "flesh-eating"]. Penicillin is losing its effectiveness, and there are only so many "stronger" ones out there...

A good reason not to use antibiotics if they're not called for, and also to take EVERY LAST DOSE if they are prescribed, even after you feel better.

Climbing off soap box now.
