GND,
Sorry to hear of your missing letterbox. It was on my To-Find list.
Several of my letterboxes are within walking distance of my house.
Last week, I found one of them poorly hidden (a box that's been vandalized in the past), the lid not on tight and the stamp double bagged, but the logbook single bagged...
Another letterbox was poorly hidden with again, the stamp double bagged and the logbook single bagged.
I know I am preaching to the choir, but please re-hide letterboxes better than you found them.
Take the time to seal up the baggies. If possible, double bag the logbook.
Make sure the lid of the letterbox is snapped on tightly!
Treat each letterbox as your own! Someone took a lot of time and effort to put it there for your enjoyment.

I so sorry to hear it is gone! Doug and I waited for about an hour early on a Saturday morning last spring. The problem was that there were about 10 people waiting for the ticket office to open so we waited too! Never did find out what concert/game we were waiting for. I hope you do re-plant it. There aren't many around that area.

I do plan on replanting...and may add another box for the Storm and replant Zen Fruit.
I may have to make them microboxes...urban boxes are hard to keep hidden for very long. Go Sonics almost made it for two years!!!

It was a really fun box - I'm glad you're replanting, we never got Zen Fruit.
I'm thinking of doing a time limited one at Folklife if I can manage it - I'm working there at least a couple of days. I probably could even get permission - I know one of the board members, and it certainly qualifies as "things people do for themselves".
What are people's ideas for urban boxes in Seattle? I want to plant more, but feel funny just sticking a mini lock-n-lock under a bush in an urban setting (although noone could possibly mistake it for a threat).

(we didn't mean Go, Sonics in THAT way!)

I'd rather find boxes on a good, long hike somewhere that takes me to some wonderful view. =)
If I plant a box in an easy-to-get-to location, you can be darned sure I prefer to make the clues mind-boggling annoying. ;o) *coughwalkingtourcough*

That certainly is nice, but some of us have daytime jobs and other responsibilities, and it's nice to have boxes in city as well. And places in the city (where I am most of the time anyway) give me ideas for stamps I want to carve that belong to that place. I have three stamp images that belong in specific places in Seattle, but it's hard to figure out how to plant them!
We're in the middle of doing that one - have to go back when there isn't what appeared to be an unofficial open-air pharmaceutical transaction happening in front of the darn plaque. (Now that is one problem you don't have with those long outdoor woods hike boxes!)

Yes, I second that!!! I made the mistake of trying to walk into one of those multi-million dollar computerized self-cleaning permanent bathrooms in Seattle in broadlight because the kids had to go while we were out boxing and ended up having front row seats to multiple folks using said pharmaceuticals in the bathrooms. The doors ended up opening up on the 'consumers' before they finished their hits and whatever other activities were going on in there. Talk about a life lesson for the kids--and early! Had lots of 'splaining to do on the 60-mile drive home that evening. Yes, you can learn all sorts of things while letterboxing...

How is it that everyone else gets to see homeless people taking hits while looking for this series. I only had homeless people hitting me up for change. Never actually got to see anything illegal going on, though!

If you're really up for adventure go stand in front of one of those million dollar self-cleaning toilets somewhere in town (if the city council hasn't already removed them) and wait for the doors to automatically open up every 3-5 minutes or so. I'm sure you'll get your chance to catch some folks in the act. Let's just say not only did we witness hits but we observed other sorts of behavior that folks shouldn't be doing in public restrooms. Ick... And to think I spent my formative years in Berlin, Germany, where that sort of behavior was commonplace--the only thing I saw there in Berlin was people sprawled out on the ground around the subway stations 'post hit' and a dead druggie collapsed at the Frankfurt train station. Didn't even see any of that in Amsterdam where it was legal!

Geez people...
How the heck did we get from the Sonics...to public drug use?
Regardless, I am going to try and replant for all those busy people with bad knees that can't take a 4 mile hike with a 1000 ft change in elevation and don't mind viewing urban wild life periodically. Beauty can be found everywhere...you just have to be patient and look more closely sometimes. (There I'm off my soapbox.) ;) Honestly, would you guys have noticed those statues if I didn't hide the original letterboxes nearby?
Thanks for making me smile. You guys are the best!!
