Downtime Schedule
Board: Atlas Quest Announcements
Mar 28, 2012 9:35am
Thread (disabled) Board
I've gotten a few messages by people asking if I could delay the downtime for AQ until Monday so people attending events who didn't get the memo can still print out clues, or so anyone looking for letterboxes this weekend can still get clues all weekend. And I'm open-minded--if y'all would prefer me to hold off until after the weekend, I can do that. (And it would save me the embarrassment of having to postpone the update again if for some reason an extra two days wasn't enough for me to get everything in order!)

A little bit ironically, Monday is often has the heaviest load on the server--probably all those folks who attended events or letterbox logging all those finds when they get back to work. ;o) But anyhow....

If you want the switch to happen on Monday, click agree.
If you want the switch to happened as currently scheduled on Friday, click disagree.
If you really don't care because you think this is an elaborate April Fool's joke, click funny.

-- Ryan, who suggests that nobody go clicking funny!

If Monday is historically a busy logging day, why not do it on Tuesday?

Monday would be the worst day for me, because like you said, I'll be boxing this week-end and recording my week-end finds on Monday.

Today I have been planning, plotting, and printing, so no need for me to be on AQ on Friday.

Logging can be done at any time after the fact, so you don't HAVE to do it Monday. But looking up clues before or during a trip is a more time sensitive issue.

Just go old school LbNA style for a few days and pick up some of the earliest boxes in your area that you've been meaning to get that never transitioned over to Atlasquest by age or choice.

Yeah, but recording your finds isn't as important as having the clues to go to a gathering. I assure you I could wait a week to log my finds and it wouldn't make one little difference.

I say do the update as soon as you possibly can and get it over with. You've already given people enough time to plan ahead and print out clues for the weekend.

Wow--I'm actually pretty surprised at the huge lopsided preference for waiting until Monday. I'll leave the poll open until later this evening before I commit to waiting until Monday for the switch, but right now, it's looking like I'll probably make the change over on Monday.

I swear, though--I'm not trying to yank everyone's chain! =)

You would've had to waste a lot of time writing up those blog pages if you had, and I don't see you doing that just to play a joke...

I agree that you can log your finds anytime, I was just commenting on what I usually do.

LOL, some LB'ers would disagree with you, sad to say, I use to box with a lber who would record her finds on her I-phone while DRIVING down the road. She could not wait until she got home. She started laughing and asked if it was making me nervous and I said yep, she kept lol and told me she was a good driver. HA! good drivers don't do that.

I agree completely. Thought it was odd that GT would point out that
Monday is often has the heaviest load on the server

and then propose to shut down on Monday. Just sayin.'

I can't even log on my phone. However my dh's shiny new smart phone can. So whenever we stop to eat after we've been LBing I log my finds. hehe

Oh, I could see GT putting in the time to create the necessary back story, if it were an April Fool's prank. Not that I think it is....

I have an iPad (thanks , Honey) that has 3G so I log in as soon as we get back to the car! Oh, and as long we have cell service, of course.

All my clues are printed. Have at it, Ryan!

That is hilarious! I can't believe the "McLetterboxing" site is a joke--it's too perfect! I bet the boards were lit up with PO'd boxers that day!

Shutting the site down Monday wasn't my idea--and, in fact, wouldn't have been *my* first choice--but I do try to be accommodating when I can and if the people demand a Monday shutdown over a Friday shutdown, then by golly, I'm willing to do that. =)

But personally, I'd prefer getting it done Friday. There's a tooth that needs to be pulled, and I really just want to get it done and over with. =)
