I have some suggestions....

I know this board was meant to give suggestions to ME for ideas on how to improve Atlas Quest, but I have a couple of suggestions for YOU to have a better experience using Atlas Quest, and I couldn't think of a better place to post them than here. ;o)

First, looking at all the recently updated profiles, the "free flowing thoughts" section doesn't seem to be getting nearly as much interest as I thought it would, but I'd like to point out one profile that caught my eye: Eidolon's. http://www.atlasquest.com/people/profile.html?gMemberId=736

Now THAT'S a cool use for the new feature. Tells us something very unique about Eidolon, it's interesting, and there's absolutely no way I'd ever have created a feature to support his odd tracking behavior. ;o) Use your imagination! You can really make your profile noteworthy if you make an effective use of the free flowing thoughts.

The other suggestion.... I just recently noticed on Firefox (I'm using version 2.0) that there's an option that allows you to set your mouse so a click of the middle button will automatically open a link in a new tab. I've just started using it and it's WONDERFUL! I'll go to My Page and use the middle button to click through all of my favorite boards with new posts and poof! They all open so quickly and elegantly.

Just love this feature. =) If you have Firefox 2.0, I'd highly recommend it. To to Tools, then Options on the menubar. Click on the "Tabbed Browing" option, then select the "Features" tab. They hide the option well, but that's where you can find it.

Darn useful, let me tell you. *nodding*

The power of the tabs....

I have the newest version of IE...version 7 is it? Don't know...anyway...I decided to try to change the options for the middle button/tabs...and didn't see anything in the features area that would change the function. So...out of curiosity...I moused-over a link and clicked my middle button and WAHLA...it opens the link in a new tab. SWEET! Thanks so much for sharing that! I never would have figured it out by myself!

As for the "Free-Flowing Thoughts" section. I put something there...but really not utilizing the space properly I think. My thoughts don't seem to be flowing free at the moment...but when they do...now I'll know where to put them! Thank you for that space...I'm sure it will come in handy...as soon as I think of something cool to put there! LOL

I was referring to Firefox 2 which is my browser of choice. =) I don't know as much about IE7 (and on my computer in Seattle with Windows 2000, I can't even install it).

It's nice to know the middle-button click to open a link in a new tab works on IE7 too, though. Even better, it seems to be the default!

Middle buttons are great! I haven't used my middle finger so much before in.... well, nevermind. ;o)

I think the Free Flowing Thoughts section is a great idea and I intended to use it eventually, I was just waiting to think of something to put in it. Thanks for pointing out Eidolon's FFTs, which was very novel :-) Now I will have to wait a bit longer until I forget about it because Eidolon's idea was so great all I can think of at the moment are copies of his idea!

I've had Macs for a decade now, and I'm slowly learning the features of my two-year old OS X.

I wanted to download something that required "right clicking" -- which my basic little mouse can't do.
Then I was told that control-click gave me the option to download a file.

Control-click also gives me the option to open the link in a new window -- is this essentially what Ryan is describing?

The other spots were like gift cards (i.e. one store, limited amount to spend)
The "free flowing thoughts" choice is like giving someone a signed blank check -- endless possibilities!

With endless possibilities, it takes time to think up the perfect use!

I would have used it to hold my unlisted finds until I could afford my Premium Membership. (BTW, mine was a gift, but I intend to renew it and renew it!)

Thanks for the check!

Now this a feature I hadn't really paid any attention to, but it should be really useful for all those posts I skipped about how to add features. Maybe you should cross-post something on the Announcements/AQ board. Now I need to go check out updated profiles for members.

That's cool. Thanks for sharing the info.

Yeah, I am a bit weird, so what?!? LOL

And for those of you who may have looked before at the random, useless information I added, it is much prettier now.

Note to Ryan: Maybe 'free text' isn't such a good thing for some of us...
