Oh, I just have to share how the Cootie plant went last night. Our son, Little Man, was in the play, so we arrived at the theatre an hour before performance. Our guests, the 4sheppards, arrived about 40 minutes later and we met them at the door. Naturally, I scanned to see if she had a purse, NO, I thought as much.

Now, from this point I'm going to share both sides of the story, cuz it's funny.

My husband, Whack, was no where to be found, he had their tickets. I call him on the cell. He's in the wings...

[4sheppards: they have a suspicion we're going to cootie them, but they're going to fix it and cootie us. They duck tape ALL their pockets closed, and one of their kids even tucks their hood in so nothing can be put it in. When Whack isn't around, they think he's gone to plant it in her car... but "haha" on us, they drove his car.]

However, Whack is in the wings with Little Man and not trying to plant cootie in their car... lol... he comes to door with their tickets.

10 minutes before show, I'm attempting to plant our cootie. We're standing in hallway, talking. I DROP our cootie and scramble to get it before anyone sees it! Lil Hunters eyes are one me -- she's 8, but I get the cootie before anyone really sees it.

As we're talking, I grab her arm, we're all talking. Then I touch her shoulder, we're all talking. Then I slip it in her coat pocket-- WHICH IS ACTUALLY DUCK TAPED SHUT, but I don't know it is and the cootie slips right in! lol -- Then I grab her elbow, we're all talking. The lights flash, we take our seats, the show begins, and I smile and lean over and tell Whack "mission accomplished."

[4sheppards: at intermission Pookie (that's me) goes back stage to check on Little Man and leaves her purse on chair. Haha -- Lil Hunter plants cootie in my purse -- and they're all happy cuz they got us first -- or so they think! :) )

Show ends, we all go out for ice cream and talk talk talk.

We get home... I find their cootie and call them and they're so happy and brag -- "We cootied you first." And I say, "Not so, check your coat pocket!"

4sheppards: "On the way home we were being so smug, cuz we were sure we had you guys all handled!"

Reidling Trinity: "Haha, we cootied you first!"

Oh, it was pretty funny. Anyway, thanks for indulging this long narrative. It was a really fun first!

~ Pookie.

Sounds like you had a blast with your first cootie plant. I, too had my first plant this weekend. I got revenge on my mother who cootied my a couple weeks ago. I got to her house and let myself in before she got home from work and promptly recruited my 6 year old daughter. We planted approximately 20 cooties in her bed. The worst part was waiting about 5 hours before she decided to go to bed. (we were spending the night) It was great fun to hear her let out a little scream... COOTIES!!!!

What a blast!!!
Love you Wild Jane!!!

lol... that's pretty funny.
Now, it's about passing them on once you get one... isn't it?

Has anybody planted a cootie on a non-LBer to introduce them to LBing?

I would probably take them to do actual letterboxing instead since passing them a cootie really has nothing to do with introducing them to the hobby... *shrug*
