Hi all,
So here's the back story 2 1/2 year's of unexplained neuro leg pain, testing, meds, procedures,ect....conclusion...DOCTORS SUCK!! If your a doc NO offense I sure you're the exception. Then I met a great neuro doc who found me intriguing and he took me on and then actually admitted he needed another doc to consult because he was not the end all be all of neurology....THE POINT - they both believe that the Mayo Clinic is the quintessential place to go to get to the bottom of the pain in my leg...so a year ago I was put on a wait list because I was not emergent enough to go right away- no exploding tumor or missing body parts- which I totally agree with...thousands of other people are much worse off than I am and need their services more - so wait I did- 11 months!

So on Wednesday my DH and I are leaving our littles and flying to Rochester MN (only 2 boxes I checked hehe!!) for a 9 day adventure thru the chamber of testing torture! I have a few friends that have been in similar situations and it was NOT pleasant!! So of course I am totally obsessing about the "WHAT IF" situations and trying not to let it drive me nuts.

I am hoping that we get a diagnosis at least- not even a cure I just want to know what is causing the problem. Although my docs here have told me not to put to much stock in this. Because if they don't find anything then I will be in the pit....when they say WE DON"T KNOW!!! NOT AGAIN!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! So if anyone out there could send out good thoughts or prayers for just some info for THE CALL BOYS mom....she would really appreciate it! She is going to plant a box in the clinic and in Sioux Falls SD for the first time! Yippeee! priorities you know...a great distraction!!! ; )

Can you tell I am freaking out ?? I just have so much to do I don't have time to have all of this ....I have my boys to make memories with and have fun with and letterbox with!! We go go go and we have a great time but my boys worry and I don't want them to have anything to worry about when it comes to me!
Thanks so much for reading! You are all fabulous and this community has become a great place to come and escape a bit from the grind. Good blessings to you all and may you all hunt safely and make awesome memories!!!

enjoy the journey, happy hunting,
teekasue,
& her Call Boys ( grandma's boys till I get home ; ) they are gonna be sooo spoiled)

Oh, you have all our best wishes!!!!

Perhaps it might be more positive to not say "doctors suck" and instead say "the human nervous system is an amazing and not-fully-understood thing, which science is still learning about."

Best of luck with your tests.

Isn't that the truth! My older son has recently had some sudden-onset neurological and vision issues. . .and all of the ramifications of this are a crazy puzzle we're trying to piece together. It's taking patience on all of our parts. I hope that you have good results and can get to the bottom of what's causing your issues--the brain and the body work in strange ways!

As for doctors, I am eternally grateful to the surgeon (and the nurses) who dragged theirselves out of bed in the middle of the night to perform chest surgery on my younger son when he was 19 months old. They opened up the surgery suite at Texas Children's just for him because waiting until morning could have meant permanent lung damage or possibly worse. I try to remember that when I'm feeling frustrated with the medical process.

Oh Teeka
thinking of you
oh yes, our bodies are so delicate and intricate.
Hope all goes very well and that the source of this
pain is able to be determined and dealt with.
Hope all goes well. May you have many more
years of planting and letterboxing!!

P.S. and may those boys not be too visibly spoiled in your absence!

I guess my frustration comes from the "uninspired HMO DOC" that sadly too many people have been subjected to....they talk to you for 2 minutes, barely hear you, examine you for 60 secs then throw samples at you that are going solve all your problems....they give the great inspired docs , who listen, attend, honor the patient as a partner NOT a $/# and heal as they learn- A BAD NAME!

I was on a tear- sorry if I offended anyone with my 'DOCTOR'S" comment....my oldest would not be walking the planet if it wasn't for a gifted ,kind , and lovely doctor that saved not only his life but mine as well! ; )

My best friend has a brain tumor and she told me the other day she would be nuts by now if she had my leg, she would hate to not have a diagnosis! She is grateful to know what she has and how to get rid of it...gamma knife...way cool cutting edge stuff she says...she is ultra Discovery channel addict , she is hoping to be a show topic...What a nut! ; ) Interesting perspective I never thought of ....I was just so sad for her and the fact that she was bald! Not pretty! hehe But from her side she is just glad to know how to deal cause she knows what it is ...NOW she can attack....That is the goal for me!!

Thanks to everyone who responded!!! I so appreciate your good thoughts and prayers. Blessings are a two way street ....they will come back to you my friends. I will keep you all posted...I hope to be checking in from time to time while I have down time !

Thanks again!
enjoy the journey, happy hunting,

I can relate to your situation so much! I have pain in my back and leg and even after CT and MRI scans they can't give me a diagnosis other than I have a couple of bulging discs, but none of my doctors feel they can be causing this pain, so no diagnosis. It's so incredibly frustrating and very hard to live with constant pain.
You have all my prayers that they can give you a diagnosis, one of us needs one!
