Everything you wanted to know about Moose

The life expectancy of a moose in captivity is 14-16 years. That explains the sophomoric behavior. Stay young and foolish, wassa!

So that's the reason behind the theme of the day.
Makes me think of the Great Big Moose song.

There was a silly moose
Who liked to drink a lot of juice
There was a silly moose
Who liked to drink a lot of juice

CHORUS:

Singing way-oh, way-oh
Way-oh way-oh way-oh way-oh
Way-oh, way-oh!
Way-oh way-oh way-oh way-oh

Happy 50th Birthday!

Hmmm... Let's see here...

Moose are found all over the Northern Hemisphere; their range essentially coincides with that of the coniferous forests of northern Asia, Europe, and North America.

It also coincides with the best locations for hunting letterboxes.

Moose may grow to be 7 feet tall and 1500 pounds!

Wassa is short and underweight.

They like to eat trees and shrubs, usually maple and aspen and are considered herbivores

No, Herbivore is another letterboxer.

Moose have a life expectancy of 8-25 years

Wassa has survived to twice his life expectancy.

He is truly a one-of-a-kind indiviidual, and I am proud to call him "friend"...unless we're at the museum together, in which case, I have no idea who that strange man is.

the Great Big Moose song.

I know ANOTHER "Moose Song" that we used to sing at SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) events. However, only the first verse and chorus are fit to print on this site:

When I was a young lad I used to like girls,
I'd play with their corsets and fondle their curls.
'Till one day, my lady I caught with some churl,
Now you'd never get treated that way by a moose.

Chorus
Moose, moose, I likes a moose,
I've never had anything quite like a moose.
I've had lots of lovers, my life has been loose,
But I've never had anything quite like a moose.

Happy Birthday, Wassa!
