You think that is bad try looking up pictures of a pussy willow plant for a school project!!!!

My 9-year-olds eyes just about popped out of his head as he asked, "Mom, why are there pictures of girls?"

I'm laughed out loud at that one! Don't you wish the computer could read our minds??

Recently I was carving a stamp for a Halloween letterboxing event and wanted a cartoon/clip-art image of a severed head, so I did a google images search for "severed head." Of course, *I* knew I wanted it to be a "funny" picture, but google didn't know that. Let me tell you, that was a BAD search to do after midnight so close to Halloween...

Now, on topic, I thought Foraych's images were great. Hmm, do I need to carve one of my own??

I carved just the face only of Bumble several years ago for a Desperately Seeking Sun event. If you get stuck, I can probably find the image I used in my archives.

let me know -

If you need more images, go to Target. They had coloring books there and I checked and they did have Bumbles in them. There were 4 or 5 images of Bumbles.

A few years ago, I was trying to find images for a script analysis class.

We were presenting our version of the assigned play.

Part of it involved lots of different chocolates.

I was able to find a couple of chocolate sites that had pictures of most of the chocolates, so I could print them out.

But the one I couldn't find was Nipples of Venus. These are chocolates that, ahem, are shaped and come to a point. The points are dipped in red or white chocolate.

Well, let me tell you, putting in "Nipples of Venus" on Google did not, for the most part, bring up chocolates!! It's good no kid was around just to see some of the words on the listings! Wow!

I never did find an image for them.

So for our presentation, I bought Hershey kisses and dipped the tips and passed them around. I bought the kisses with almonds in them, so I could include the men, too . . .

:D

OK, so I had to try it out--and what Google pulled up for me was pictures of marvelous-looking chocolates and recipes for making them.

WHY did I do the search? Just in the name of research--that's all--just scientific curiosity! Uh-huh, yep, that's it!

This was back in 2004. I didn't get any pictures of chocolates. I DID get of recipes for the chocolates but I needed a picture to glue onto my presentation board.

The movie, "Chocolat" has wonderful looking Nipples of Venus in it -- and it's a great movie, too!

You realize, I presume, that you can set Google to include or exclude hits of a prurient nature. It's not perfect, of course -- lots of prurient sites seem to enjoy people opening them up when they're looking for something innocuous -- but I think if you have it set to filter nothing, you're gonna get some seriously depraved stuff no matter what you search for.

Let's say I did find a clip of my target movie on youtube. Is tracing it or taking a photo of it the only way to save it? Is there no simple clever way to download it to my favorite folder?

I know you found an image to use already, but for anyone that needs to do this in the future, you can pause the video on the image you want, then take a screen shoot. On macs you hold down command-shift-3 or command-shift-4 allows you do drag a box and take a screen shot of only the part of the screen you want. The picture is automatically saved on your computer, so it would be easy to print it out. This page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenshot has more info than you could ever possibly care to know about taking screenshots on various computers.
Hope that all makes sense!

Here's my question. Once you've got a scene from a movie (or any picture), is there a way to convert it to a line drawing so it's easier to carve?

i didn't. i knew exactly what it meant. Hence "prurient hit" made me bit my tongue. Oh the places i could go with that, Kirbert. . .

this is a family-friendly website, this is a family-friendly website, this is a family-friendly website. . .

Just a side note: Mama Wolf has a LOVELY series on Paris Mountain that would go well with "prurient hits"

you may now return to your morning coffee.

The websites FotoFlexer and Picnik enable you to convert pictures to line drawings or other effects that can be used to carve images. They are free to use also :)
