May I point out that I've never actually required stitches and more than one boxer has borrowed my tongs. :P And, I was only dangling over that ravine by the back of my pants that one time. And, a lot of people can't remember what poison ivy looks like. And, if I brought dry clothes, then my husband would have known I was planning to go swimming that night. And, I can't help it if I look guilty. (That's why I leave all the talking to Artemis and the planning to Eidolon.) And, I always hold Karmakat's feet when I send her head first into a hole. And, everyone knows that it's easy to get lost on forestry service roads. And, if you yell "BEAR!" in the middle of the woods, of course I'm going to think you're looking at an actual BEAR and take off running. Why not yell, "Bunny!"

You know what? I wouldn't trade one minute of one day that I've had letterboxing with friends for anything in this world. Bring on the mishaps! I'm ready for them. :o)

Definitely Eidolon, although daylight isn't the real factor. He just thinks eating is a waste of boxing time. I've missed lunch AND dinner on more than one boxing day, but have learned to load the back pack with trail food, and snacks for the dogs.

Oh, I'm sure it's not exactly like that -- just stopping for the purpose of eating is a waste of boxing time. Now this would be entirely true! There's really no reason at all you can't walk and eat at the same time-- it's not like a sandwich ties your legs from moving! And you can take off your backpack and dig out that sandwich while walking as well (or dig it out while waiting for others to stamp in a box).

I definitely have to concur with these sentiments. SWMBO likes to sleep late on her vacations, so we often don't leave a motel room until just before we have to, 11:00 or whatever. Then we go to breakfast, which always seems to take too much of the day. Once we start boxing, we can't seem to stop ourselves until after dark when we're not allowed into most parks anyway. Sometimes we continue anyway well after dark.

I have been thinking all through this thread and the talk about daylight that this was a Ga. creed. So the park is closed and it is dark; we can get a few more boxes.

Actually, the last boxing trip that Eidolon was on that resulted in an ER trip, he was more than willing to accommodate. But is was already after dark, and as the group headed towards civilization, the injured party said, "Hey, isn't there a box in this cemetery we are passing?" She did eventually make it to the ER on her own.

I have NO idea what you are talking about F8!! I think I was hunting for a coffee/brownie place in a square....in a city.....that I didn't know much about!! :-)

Wiseoldowl.....I hope to meet you in February and I'll be happy to share our SC boxing adventure that left some of us a little gimpy and with perm. souveniers! Scary part is....our next trip to SC was a camping adventure!! :-)
