WalkAmerica Walk for Jakob

Hey Everyone,

My family is participating in WalkAmerica because we believe in the March of Dimes mission to save babies. Both of my boys were born premature. The oldest Trey (Fullmetal Alchemist) is 15 yrs old. and the baby Jakob is 4 yrs old. Jakob is the 2007 March of Dimes Ambassador for Gordon County.

I wanted to combine our new love for letterboxing, meeting new people and raising money for a worthy cause together. If everyone is up for this, we can gather after the walk to exchange stamps and socialize. I will carve a special stamp for the event, just haven't totally decided on the design. Please come walk, talk, and stamp.

Please support my fundraising efforts by sponsoring me in WalkAmerica today. There are two ways to help support our efforts. You can come and join in the walk or you can make a contribution. I have a personal goal of $200.

If you would like to join in the walk, please go to my webpage listed below and join Team Little Jake--then email your family and friends to help sponsor you.

Contributing to my walk online is fast, easy and secure. You can donate directly from my personal webpage with a credit/debit card or PayPal. If you prefer, I can also accept cash or check. Just click the appropriate box on my webpage.

The money we raise helps save premature and sick babies. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies’ health today, and through WalkAmerica, the March of Dimes is funding important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.

With your support, there’s hope.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

Thanks for your support----Groovychick

I haven't thought about that. This event thing is new to me. I had to ask a wonderful fellow LBer for help with setting up the event. How would I go about doing the other? I think it is a wonderful idea.

What a great idea (about planting a box or doing an event)! We also do the MOD walk each year for the past 3 years. Toddler Phoenix is a 33 weeker - doing great now. His big 3rd birthday is coming up in a few weeks!! Thankfully, Baby Phoenix was a full-termer but I spent the whole pregnancy worrying about her coming too early...

We are walking in Buffalo but there are walks all over the country if anyone else is interested in walking in their own communities - any little bit helps!

Here's our page: www.walkamerica.org/tylersmommy

I'm a little slow on the fund-raising this year!!

I'm going to have to think about doing something letterbox-related this year...

Thanks and congrats on Toddler & Baby Phoenix. LittleMan was a 29 weeker & Fullmetal Alchemist was a 30 weeker. You know one time is never enough...

Would you be interested in carving a stamp commerating your walk? We could do an postal exchange after all the walks.

If anyone wants to participate in this, please let us know.

Hey Flory Family,

Boy do I remember the NICU's. Both of my boys were preemies and born at two different hospitals. So two totally different experiences.

I am glad to hear you walk and was wondering if you would be interested in carving a stamp commerating the walk? We can do a postal exchange after the walks. Please let me know.
Thanks, Groovychick

That sounds like a great idea! we were going to plant a box near the walk (or while ON the walk - talk about having to be stealthy!!) also. Anything to bring attention to the March of Dimes and our fund-raising efforts!
