Premium Memberships

I've been getting a few e-mails about premium membership rates. I was planning to raise the rates today to $35/year. But there are a few people who want to know if they send a check if I have to receive it by today or if it needs to be postmarked by today or whatever.
So, I'm delaying the rate increase until the end of the month. If you want to send checks, there's no rush--you still have two more weeks. I'm not actually in Seattle at the moment and it might take a week or two for me to receive the check, so I'll count it based on the postmarks. Anything postmarked on or before the end of this money should be $30. Starting February, it should be $35.
For those of you who want to become premium members but can't afford it--don't worry about it. From the first day I implemented premium membership, I wanted to make rates at $35/year (about $3/month) but never felt there were enough perks for premium membership to deserve that. Now that it'll finally be set where I wanted it in the first place, I don't plan to raise rates again for a long, long time. =) At least two years. Maybe in two or three years I'll reexamine my financial needs and see how well I'm doing at avoiding employment in a corporate job, but as long as I can make ends meet, I don't want to raise rates anymore.
Anyone who's already a premium member--as long as you renew before your premium membership expires, you'll continue to get the same price as what you signed up at regardless of whether or not you're set to auto-renew through PayPal.
And since I'm on the matter of premium members, I can't thank you enough. My savings account would have been completely drained two years ago if it wasn't for you and I'd be working as a corporate drone by now. Everything I've done on Atlas Quest since that time is through your support. I started Atlas Quest as a little six-month project for fun to practice my programming skills that had languished for two years after I was laid off. Three years now I've working on this site, and it's premium members who've made this possible. For that, I thank you. It's the best job I've ever had. =)

You deserve it. You are always available to help us and to listen to us. That's definately worth $3 a month! :)

Worth every penny - plus more. I just haven't seen a site that is more user and customer friendly. While I spend WAY, WAY too much time here - I'm so glad to have found it!

I love my Premium Membership and that it helps keep AQ running. I agree the more the merrier but at this stage I would like to interject a word of praise to the Free members as well. It is partly because of the Free membership that AQ is able to grow and easily aquire the database of so many letterbox finds and plants. I am sure GT is very proud of the free availability of his site, it is a select corner of the internet society.
So please aid AQ by taking up a Premium Membership, but if you can't afford it or only use AQ occasionally then we still say Hurrah for Free Members.

AND if you were a corporate drone right now, you wouldnt be able to hold our hands and fix our problems the very second someone cries about something. You would be stuck in a 7-6 type of job and only be able to deal with us after work and on weekends!! Oh the very thought of having to wait more than 10 minutes for a reply to a question. Ryan, I think you have spoiled your loyal followers!!
I have only been coming to AQ since Sept, and just became a premium member, but I am spoiled already!!
Thanks for all the hard work you do....if you ever get around to upstate NY, I would love to meet you.

That's the thing that scares me. AQ will grow so much and so fast that I won't be able to get a 24 hour response to a question like I do now! GT and I disagree on some features, but I am so incredibly grateful for his responsiveness....no matter how the chips fall. I have been involved in website administration and I know of no other website guru who personally answers so many questions so quickly. I selfishly keep my fingers crossed that GT never gets gainfully employed and is able to scrape out a living off of this site. :)
As for GT coming to NY, why..you've missed him several times already! He and Amanda have been known to pop into Ithaca for the Finger Lakes event..to stay with their friend Turtle McQ. (Those turtles are practically a cult, you know). I don't think he could handle the snowy season, so your best bet is to attend next year's Finger Lakes event and hope Amanda has enough miles to drag him along. :) Why look, you can already sign up on the event's page!

I have heard that the Great Green One pops in unannounced at events sometime. But I havent been a boxer long enough to have attended any events. My first will be your DSS. And I am so excited, nervous, intimidated, and thrilled about that one!
I also didnt get the feeling that GT is a big snow fan, so hopefully it timing works out, we can attend some events over the summer.
Off to Eckerts now....

Also would love to meet the king! I'm going to DSS also and will be my first big one too. I have the same feelings as you do. I just can't imagine sooooooo many people together for stamping! =-O The WNY Boxing Rainout Mini Meet that I attended was a lot of fun and wonderfully hosted by Sprite and Highlander. Hope I actually meet you there. Fran

So, if I were to invite my "brother" the Green Tortuga to the Ohio Gathering this summer he'd come? I am a turtle?

I will say that 90% of the time (especially if the gathering is not on the West Coast). I influence whether or not the Green One will be at a gathering. I arrange the air travel after all :-)

Now you see where the *real* power lies! Another trick to lure turtles is to give them a nearby couch or futon to sleep on. And lots of Starbursts. But really, all this adulation is just going to go to his little green head....

Ha, just what I was thinking! I'll be passing by the Dayton International Airport on my way to the gathering. Wouldn't be difficult to pick up a Hitchhiker with camping gear along the way (just not at the side the road).
