Help with clue, please....
Board: Traditional Letterboxes

Last month posted about planting a letterbox at my daughter's cosmetology school, as a way to get her some clients. I have since carved the stamp, made the logbook, got a first finders prize and put it all together in a proper container. Now I am stumped on the clue. What I need is a "secret word" (or phrase), so she will know that the client is there for the box. I was hoping for something a little more creative than, "Do you have the letterbox?". Also, it would have to be something kind of obvious, that she couldn't mistake for small talk.

Everyone here on AQ is so creative, I thought you may have some good ideas for me.
Thanks in advance!

Maybe the "client" could ask for a certain style of haircut . . . "Could I get you to give me a 'boxer' cut?" That's a little corny, but I could try harder lat at night when the juices flow better!

Or they could ask if the school gives gift certificates, or rain checks . . .

My two indoor boxes presented me with the same dilemma. You might check them out to stimulate ideas. the boxes are called "Roll 'Em" and "Half & Half."

Take care,

Being in the hair industry, i would suggest a simple "I would like a Box Cut please". That is one of the first haircuts students should be learning. They may call it something else but for Lbing purposes it would work great.

Also, " I don't want my hair to go North, if you know what I mean?" wink wink nudge nudge say no more say no more

Thank You all, for the suggestions. I think, for now, it's going to be "I would like my hair styled like Marjorie, Please!" But it will probably change when I pass the ideas along to DD. DDs rarely agree with thier DMs!!! LOL

That is so good to hear, I've been a little concerned that no one would want to pay to get the box. The clue is up, but it is predated, so you can't see it yet. I am hoping to catch up with DD this weekend, to give her the box and officially post the clue, so keep an eye out for it!. This is our first plant, so I am anxious to see how it does! Now I know it may have at least 1 finder. Yippee!

I've been meaning to ask DH if he would be interested in attending that event. We are pretty new to Lbing, not sure if we're ready to play with the big kids!! LOL.

Quote ...after the haircut (providing it goes well!)

Maybe I should include a disclaimer in the clue!.... <Planter assumes NO responsability, if you don't like your haircut!!> hahaha

We are not the big kids (started in the end of August, myself) , though a quick look at the list of RSVP's shows some 'biggies' (not sure if they really want to be called that though!) Please come, I would like to get as many of the NE newbies here so that you can see what fun an event can be.

a disclaimer might not be necessary, but I will let everyone know after Jan 17th!

DD thought that the clue should have the word letterbox(ing) in it, so that she couldn't forget it! The revised version is. " I would like my hair styled like my letterboxing friend, Marjorie, please!"

Thanks agian for all the suggestions!

But then if that is a real cut, how would you know they wanted the letterbox and were not a legitimate customer???

That should do it and would be quite funny too, since women normally do not get box cuts. (laughing)

I was thinking the same thing, Eidolon. That's why I put the word "styled", instead of "cut" in the clue. Lbers, can wait until after the cut, to state the clue. There is only so much RISK one should be required to take for a box! :) Unless I give it the extreme icon! LOL Keep the ideas coming. The clue doesn't go up until the 17th, so there is still time to change it.

What is the "box cut", anyway??? I was picturing, a women's cut (straight across the back above the shoulders with straight bangs). Now that I know it is a men's cut, I am thinking... flat-top!?! If it is a men's cut.... a box cut like MARJORIE.... Too funny!!
