My Very First Carved Stamp!
Board: Stamp Carving and Mounting

I carved my very first stamp today. I have ordered my supplies over the Internet, but haven't gotten them quite yet and was starting to get the carving itch, so went to the store and got erasers. (laughing) I carved a musical note for a postal box I am doing. Still have to mount it, but for the first one, it didn't turn out tooooo bad. (jumping up and down in excitement) Can't wait to get started on another one.

You sound like me! I carved a bunch of erasers while waiting for my supplies from Webfoot.

Good job! I'm glad that you are pleased with yourself. I've been carving for 3 years now, and with practice I've become faster, if not better!

Well, I don't know about carving portraits, but surely I'll get better with time. I hope nobody in the music postal I am in laughs at my newbie carving. (laughing)

Good for you!!!!!

I really don't think you need to mount a carved eraser...there should be plenty of material for a stamper to hold on to. The mount just adds bulk and mailing cost, in my opinion.

Congrats. i carve erasers all the time. i carve them for friends baby showers and other silly events. mostly i carve them for practice and give aways. i'm really trying to practice letters so i figured practicing peoples names on erasers first and give them to them for happy whatever day.
Don't you just love the carving aspect of this hobby?

I have my supplies ordered and hopefully will get them soon. Only using an exacto knife to carve with and that sure isn't too easy. (smile)

I did that today. I know my mastercarve is on it's way along with the carving tools but I could not wait so i got a pink pearl eraser and I drew a bat on it and used a work knife (my husband is a carpenter and it is the retractable kind they use) and I made a bat. It came out horrible and I even stamped with it and the image looks like a blob. eek! I think I will wait at least to get the right carving tools before I attempt pink pealrs again. *GRIN* Hey, at least I learned from it. LOL!!

I have now done three stamps and the first two I think were pretty good for a beginner, but that last one of a pokemon .... well, my son said it's good, but I don't really care for it. (smile)
