Just go for it! I was so nervous at first and now I can't wait to do more stamps.

All I need to do now is get good at it! Mind you, the better the supplies, the better the stamp!

Before carving your first stamp, take a deep breath, be prepared to mess it up, and go for it....then when it's OK, you will be pleasantly surprised. Remember, the more you carve, the better you get. (that's what THEY say, but I'm no proof of that....and carve ahead anyway.)

I started with loaner tools and erasers....and they are still out there in the wild.

Good for you! I could get the Speedball handle and blades but they only had Speedy-cut (not the pink stuff) where I bought my supplies. Very crumbly!

For "O"s try inserting the exacto blade straight in, then rotate the material in a circle, holding the blade still. It will make a nice little hole. Continue moving out if you need it to be bigger.

Congratulations on your first carve!

Well done, it is a great image. It was brave of you to post your first attempt, but on the other hand it is very well done and deserved posting :-) [By the way anyone know a hand clapping symbol?]

My bit of advice is to take a lot of care with tracing the original image. People are often so focused on the carving part that they don't realise that this can make a lot of difference to the finished look.

Again, well done.

Great job, at least you have the correct supplies to perform the job. I just have an exacto at the moment. Have to be very patient with myself, so as not to lose a finger.

*thump*

That is the sound of my jaw dropping to the floor. Not for the padlock, but that someone would be so sweet as to offer one to someone they hardly knew. Methinks this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. *grin*
