I was just curious. to those of you that have been doing this a long time, What is the heaviest postal you ever recieved I just got on that weighed in at a whopping 1 lb. 3.5 oz. has anyone recieved heavier?

What are people putting in postals?

I'm new to postals, and I just mailed out my first one and have a second ready to send. I was worried that these might be too large/heavy (one stamp is 3x4), but neither weighs over 4 oz. Am I missing something?

I should clarify - that 4 oz. includes the stamp, logbook, baggies, envelope. In other words, the whole package.

I've received several postals that weighed over a pound.

Sometimes a ring's theme lends itself to a weightier package. There was a "sweet treats" ring last year where you were supposed to send a bag of candy with your stamp. I'm in a murder mystery ring now where we are encouraged to send a copy of a mystery book. I'm also in a puzzle ring where we send an entire jigsaw puzzle out with a stamp.

Often the guidelines of a PLB ring will specify a certain not-to-exceed weight or postage cost. Sometimes if a PLB is particularly heavy, the owner includes extra postage for the recipients to use as a courtesy. At a minimum one should alert the recipients when sending out a PLB that weighs more than a pound (unless it is a special circumstance like the rings I've mentioned). Just to be a good PLB neighbor.

Generally speaking, though, such weighty packages are the exception, not the rule.

The Enola Gay box in our All for August PLB ring weighs over 2 pounds. So does the DaVinci Code box that we received in September; it cost over $7.00 to ship!
