I see nothing wrong with getting away from heatedness and dissention, and if that makes me inane, then so be it!

The strangest thing I ever found while letterboxing was a letterbox inside an animal skull!

There was also the copperhead that I didn't see until I was literally stepping over it, and the dead armadillo by the trail, but I think the letterbox in the skull wins the prize among my finds.

The craziest thing we have come across while boxing was a dead adult coyote. It was completely whole with it's eyes open and it's tongue hanging out (ewwww). We figured it must have been hit by a car and thrown over the embankment as it was just off the road over a small bridge and there were a pair of work gloves on the ground next to it. Our sons thought it was sad but cool to be able to see a coyote up close.

We found a couple of brand new bungee cords in the weeds near a lake. I would say that some fisherman left them there, but they weren't really anywhere near where the fishermen would be.

Here is what I came up with on Wikipedia:

A ghillie may also serve as a gamekeeper employed by a landowner to prevent poaching on his lands, control unwelcome predators and monitor the health of the wildlife.

Quote "I see a dead squirrel and a tin box" I say "grab the box thats what we want"

oh, too funny.
I wonder if the sheer frustration of this metallic treasure continuing to be put back into his home and hidey hole finally caused the poor guy to have a squirrelly coronary. LOL

and another thought...
I thought you had to be in it for awahile and "addicted" before going to such lengths for a LB...
determination from the get go :)

I kind of ran across something dead while out letterboxing.

I was sitting on a fallen log, stamping into the box and my dad was standing on the trail, keeping watch. I finished stamping in, put the box back where it belonged (yes, I rehid well!) and rejoined my dad.

Apparently after we had headed down the trail, a group of kids and a mom (non-boxers) came along after us. We were still within earshot when we heard one of the kids shout "Oh cool!" and then one of the girls go "EWWWWW!" and the mom say "No, you can't not go touch it!"

I turned to my dad and asked what that was about. He calmly replied, "Oh, there's a dead animal down there. You were sitting about 10 feet away from it." I had totally not seen it since I was so intent on searching for the little hole at the bottom of the tree.

SOOOOOO glad he didn't tell me while I was sitting there!

it isn't meant to take away from what anyone else finds important on the threads here...
I am involved in those discussions too...but it's nice to have something to smile about on here :)
