No, but good improvisation! I'm not sure I would have thought of that. Or maybe I would have tried to use my finger. :)

Oh yes, I have forgotten my pen/pencil more than once. I always check to make sure I have my stamp, my inks, my logbook, but that tiny but essential writing utensil is so easy to overlook. I've never thought of rectifying my mistake in that way, though-- very creative!

Loads of times, but never thought of using a stick. A few times I have had my markers with me so it wasn't really a big problem, but have also been caught with no markers.

Your idea was a brilliant save :-))

I keep an extra pen in the truck. The size of my LB gear bag seems to grow week to week, but there is a pen in there and a spare in the truck. You have got to know that I am logging the solution that you came up with, just in case. That is clever and resorceful.

Yes, I have done exactly that. It was before I had my sig stamp, even. So, I made a thumb print and scratched LibraryGrrl with a stick inked on my inkpad.

LG.

That's why it is always so nice to find an AQ pencil in a letterbox. It doesnt run dry and is easily sharpened with a swiss army knife! :-) And it fits so nicely into a Lock-n-Lock

Quote has anyone else besides me forgotten thier pen

Recently on a quick grab I did forget my pen. No pencil either. But I noticed just before me in the logbook were the stamps of a couple of boxers who never write anything in the logbook, including Silent Doug and Purple Skull Ringer. So I followed suit and just stamped in.

We always have an extra pen, but I have left without clues. We have also left without the stamps or inkpads. We just signed in and drew a smiley face (with a particularly dumb expression).

I keep my LB bag/sack in the car and stopped at a drive by the other day. Well wouldn't you know my son had pulled out my logbook to take to school to show off to his teacher. Guess we'll "drive by" that one again.

That's when a few blank index cards would come in handy. I'll have to remember to leave a few in the glove box just in case I forget my journal at home. I could stamp on the index card then paste the card into my journal.

I'm going to have to pack a huge box of stuff in the trunk to "fill in" for all the letterboxing gear I forget. Not to mention the "first aid" supplies that I usually carry anyway.

Quote write with a stick and some pad ink

Yes!! On our very first outing I didn't put a pen in our newly put together bag. So I used a small stick to scratch on the ink pad and then scrawl the date on the log. I felt a little silly, but chalked it up to newbieitis.

Merry Christmas all!

On my first box I remembered the clues and ink and left everything else at home. Needless to say we will be going back!
