I offered you all that so you could differentiate between mere opinion & bias (you) & establish some credibility for my position.

Emphasis added.

Huh? Doesn't every opinion have a slant, i.e, bias? Just about everything said on this thread is like an editorial in that it shares a person's perspective. We'd all be better off if we didn't demand that these perspectives or positions or opinions be justified. This isn't Debate Club. Some people are going to have jackass opinions. Let them. IMO.

An opinion not based on any facts, education, or life experience, as I said, is just hot air.

You do not have to continue with this conversation, if it makes you so uncomfortable. You need to take care of yourself, Stay calm, stay loving,,, You’ll be okay.

Patronizing is a poor substitute for an intelligent, or at least relevant, response.

Well said!! And yes, there is a lot of toxicity on this thread. But now the thread is turning into an expectation that all opinions be justified as if everyone is a reincarnation of Charlie Kirk challenging all to Prove Me Wrong.

Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still.

Imposing your beliefs on someone who holds an opposing opinion is more likely to result in resistance and reinforcement of their existing opinion. Any philosophers out there who want to chime in about subjective reality?

I don’t care if you take me serious. You seem to be awfully full of yourself. I don’t have a big ego , and I certainly don’t feel the need to please other people. I believe what I believe and I have little desire to” prove “ my beliefs to you. Someone started this chat, they expressed their opinion, I shared mine. And now we have moved on. But some people demand more, like they are in charge. I’m going out to get a couple boxes. You have a fantastic day

Baby Bear: I think you just got your answer why us Conservatives don't bother posting on this site. It's not a discussion, it's an attack.

I'm 70. I have voted in every presidential election since I was 18. In that time I have voted for Democratic and Republican presidents.

Back in the day, conservatives, at least, had the veil of competency. They would be knowledgeable in matters of economics, world policy and governmental affairs. Those days are long gone. MAGA and their kind are basically hate-mongers who wouldn't know policy if it bit them on their butt.

One is free to come to these boards and proclaim "Trump is great", but that's not a discussion. That's an isolated opinion. It doesn't become a discussion until the the question of "why is he great? is answered.

Same for posting 'Trans people are delusional'. That's an attack - there's not much room for a 'discussion' to take place after that opener.

I answered you earlier in this thread by defending my statement against Trump showing he was trying to basically starve Americans - 60% of SNAP beneficiaries are the elderly and children. I offer you this opportunity to defend Trump now in a civil discussion. For reference:
https://frac.org/blog/the-trump-administrations-refusal-to-feed-american-families

Green Tortuga: If you want to discuss the pros of high tariffs, why funding for border security should be increased dramatically or show support for the new White House ballroom, let it fly.

And this it, really. When was the last time you heard MAGA or conservatives discuss policy? Hell, when was the last time you heard Trump discuss policy? Cheering on while brown AMERICANS get cuffed and deported is not a basis for civil, adult discussions.

And finally, narocks, can you please answer my question, what are some of the great things Trump has done that make him the greatest president since George Washington?

And yes, there is a lot of toxicity on this thread.

A thread that was started with someone misinformed, which was later corrected by Miss Moon.

Because it soon became (more) political, it was moved to this thread.

Also, I was reading somewhere else that fans think that you win a ticket to go to the live after show because it talks about being available for travel dates in May.

I'm actually not interested in the prize at all, if that's what it is. I just want to say I found an immunity idol lol!

what are some of the great things Trump has done

There are bunches of good things, albeit sprinkled with bad. But here is one we can all back:

On Dec. 29, the Trump Administration announced funding awards to all 50 states through the Rural Health Transformation Program. The $50 billion investment will strengthen the rural health workforce, modernize facilities and technology, and deploy innovative care models that bring high-quality health services to rural communities nationwide.

If you want to know how much your state will receive, see article below.

There are bunches of good things, albeit sprinkled with bad.

I think it's the other way around. 😉

the Trump Administration announced funding awards to all 50 states through the Rural Health Transformation Program.

But is it really that good? Let's put it in context. While every state applied for money from the Rural Health Transformation Program, it won't be distributed equally. And funding will be pulled back if a state's policies don't match up with the administration's.

Agency administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz says, "The money that the states get will be recalculated annually, allowing the administration to "claw back" funds if, for example, state leaders don't pass promised policies. Oz said the clawbacks are not punishments [oh sure], but leverage governors can use to push policies by pointing to the potential loss of millions.

Read that last paragraph again. That sounds a lot like a threat to me.

"States must immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025," the USDA said in its memo.

If states don't comply with the latest guidance, it may cancel federal funding for state administrative costs, and hold states "liable for any over issuances".

Analysts say it won't nearly offset the losses that struggling rural hospitals will face from the federal spending law's $1.2 trillion cut from the federal budget over the next decade, primarily from Medicaid. Millions of people are also expected to lose Medicaid benefits.

Estimates suggest rural hospitals could lose around $137 billion over the next decade because of the budget measure. As many as 300 rural hospitals were at risk for closure because of the GOP's spending package, according to an analysis by The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

So, its basically holding states hostage to do Trumps bidding to get back a pittance of what they've lost. When you put that up against the $50 billion for the Rural Health Transformation Fund, you know — that math does not add up as a "great thing" he's done.

I also adored Powell’s City of Books. You could browse for a couple hours, place some choices in the cubbies near one of the exits, then go across the street to P.F. Chang’s to give yourself a second wind. Then, head back to the bookstore for more! I miss that bookstore more than anything now that I am on the Eastern seaboard these last six years. And Mumble, that event, Unlocking the City of Books 2010, was my first event too! My daughter Argyle Chameleon came up from Willamette that weekend to go with me….

Wonderful. Once again. Thanks for your opinion.

interesting. i was not aware that you ever thanked me for my opinion. maybe i missed it? more to the point i never gave an opinion, i asked a question and responded to the lack of answer. a fact based on observation not an opinion. an answer that i was truly interested in.

however, i will now give an opinion. since you seem to be incapable of answering legitimate questions, instead giving snarky and insincere responses of well wishes, i have reached my own opinion. there is a word used on the web that describes a person that joins an internet conversation or group for the purpose of causing dissension and chaos. if you don't know what it is then use a letterboxers best friend.... google. while i always try to look at the best in a person and to make people happy i do believe you fit this type of person. what is to be done with this type of internet personality? ignore. eventually they get bored and find a different discussion or group to project their misery on.
