Quote Hey Celtic Quinn and YT, can we have a ceili?

Ooh, a ceili, we need a bit of Craic.

First of all we need to look for An Bosca Litreacha Eireannach, then we can all gather back for the ceili. I'll bring my Bodhran, anyone got some Uilleann pipes?

My husband (The Mild Mannered Piper) plays tin whistle. He also plays the Great Highland Bagpipes, but they're not suitable for indoor use or dancing.

He can wear his kilt, and I'll put on my green skirt and dancing shoes.
Just the thing to cheer us up on a rainy day.

Why does this not surprise any of us?! Though I hardly imagine that you need help "breaking the ice" at meetings or parties! ;)

As for me, I'll be an appreciative audience for the group. I can read music, carry a decent tune, and have 6 years of classical piano lessons and three of clarinet under my belt, but put me in front of an audience and I'm a pathetic blob of butterfly-stomach and quivering nerves. Even an audience of two will undo me.

OK, that's it then, lets get this Hooley up and running. Musicians over on that table by the bar, the barstaff will keep your whistle wet.

Dancers on the right of them, there's plenty of room for anyone to join in, come on music's about to begin.

Audience over by the roaring fire, shuffle over make room for stragglers.

Oh....and wassamatta-u.....where are you?...... ahh you're already in place under the table and three sheets to the wind!!

Come on Wolf, toss another sod of turf on the fire, and settle yourself.

Looks like Webfoot needs more help with the fiddles. Where is your little wolf? I know he is good with the fiddle.

I always thought that going to England would be a great vacation because there wouldn't be a language barrier. I'm learning otherwise with this thread! ;)

Well the language barrier in England isn't so bad, but the Ceili happens in Ireland. The accent is a bit thicker there :-)

So get some more of the black stuff for wassamatta-u, and see if you can find Dixie. We could do with some of her blarney.

Quote To that comment, I reply.........AMEN!!!!!!!!!

I know I shouldn't be laughing, but am I the only person to see the irony here? =) Irony's not dead--it's alive and well on Atlas Quest! =) The suggestion I wrote in the help pages was to be sure to include actual content in the post, and someone who agrees whole-heartedly has nothing to say except, "AMEN!!!!!!!"? Not much content brought to the table with that post.

Oh, come now. Could it be that this poor poster was TRYING to sneak in the irony!?? As I was reading the thread, I was thinking, "I should submit a post after that "I reply ...... AMEN!!!! saying "Me too!!!" GT beat me to pointing out the irony by actually, well, pointing out the irony. I choose to believe that this dear poster of the Amen comment was chuckling heartily to him- or herself as they hit "submit."

Where would we be without those subtle wordsmiths and obvious jokesters!? I mean ... look and see how this thread has seemingly ended up advancing the worldwide cause of letterboxing and edifying the entire LB community (on both sides of the lake) ........ ;-)

Well that was grand, but the dancing has fair worn me out so I'm off to me scratcher.

Keep the music going, and the black stuff flowing. You've still got plenty of time for more craic on your side of the pond.

Just remember, don't kick yer man that's fluthered under the table LOL

There is _nothing_ funny about a nose flute. Really. Have you people no culture?

Next you'll be making fun of those who play the spoons.
