Terracaching, the other Cachers

I'm not here to advertise about the other organization, but there is also Terracaching.com. Terracaching is very simular to Geocaching. But TC hasn't been around as long as GC. Also, TC stresses quality hides, not quainity like a lot of GC hides. You can find a GC every where, but looking for a TC is hard. In fact that within 25 miles of where I live, there are about 25 Terracaches (9 of those hides are mine); whereas with Geocaching there are close to 900. They both use the same GPS coordinates system, but have a different scoring program. I used to be a Geocacher but quit to become a Terracacher.

I just wish I found out about LB first, I wouldn't have spent $400 on a GPS. $400 goes long ways to a lot of stamp material, log books and lock-lock containers. Whenever I go after a Terracache, I always look up to see if there are any letterboxes nearby. Normally, there isn't a LB anywhere close. But I am glad that I became a Terracacher.

The subject of cross listing has been in the forums at TC too. Cross listing AtlasQuest with Terracaching.com. It is not favored, in fact, in there by-laws it states "not to cross-list". But some try anyway and recieve a lot of flak for it. I know this has nothing to do with LB, but there are some who try to cross list TC with GC and vice versa, it's sort of like trying to mix oil and water together, it just ain't going to work.

Anyone from Terracaching.com come accross any letterboxes while in search of caches?

I'm always toying with going over to the dark side as there are so few boxes to find here - that aren't mine. I've met some geocachers and they don't have horns or tails ;-) Here in Ontario many folks seem to do both hobbies, we just don't get enough of either to keep us busy. Thanks for bringing the Terracaching idea to the table. I def will check it out. Norasta PhD

But you have to have two Terracachers sponsor your to jointhat site. That lets me out. Not that I have time for another hobby, anyway!

Yes, we've terracached, too. We found our first terrcache in Siem Reap, Cambodia planted by somebody from Utah. That was cool!

A few questions about TC...

How does the site filter out caches that are not quality? What is TCs definition of a quality cache? Is it easy to get sponsorship? Can a non-member have a look at the cache list? Are letterbox hybrids allowed on the site? I think I might use it to find caches but I'm not sure I'd post caches because of the "no cross-listing" by-law.
