wow you guys, thanks a million for all the input on my question! I did end up going and getting myself a camera today. A Kodak Easyshare, 6 megapixels, with a screen and a viewfinder. Also got the batteries and a memory card. Less than 160 bucks. The only thing I didn't check about (since I didn't see the idea in this thread til afterwards) was whether or not it zooms in the viewfinder. I know it does on the screen cause I played with it. Didn't think to do so through the viewfinder. I'll have to look after I open it and see if it does and if not, if it's a big enough deal that I want to return it. (It's going under my tree for a present to me from Santa. heehee!) Just wanted to thank you all so much for your comments! :)

Hey TrailStomper!
I can't wait to hear how you like the new camera? Do we have to wait until Dec 26?
I'm still researching-there sure seem to be some good deals out there right now!

Hi kwmom. I sure liked it when I was playing w/ it at the store. The sales girl pointed out to me that it's the simplest and most self-explanatory, has simple prompts on the screen, etc. and that was a big thing for me. I hate to wait til Dec. 26, but I'm going to have to make myself do so. :o( haha!
